DO set your buyer requirements very strictly (don't allow bids from countries I don't ship to, don't allow bids from users with less than 5 feedback and no credit card on file... basically tick them all)
DON'T send the phone overseas with Royal Mail, as they will not insure you against loss.
DO send via trackable means if you accept paypal
DON'T respond to anyone who wants it sent to his cousin in Nigeria, especially if he is of the pastoral persuasion. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Put a few pictures of the phone, describe it honestly, ie scratches, scuffs, whether it has all the original accessories.
I usually put that I will not sell to anyone with less that 5 positive feedback and that any such bids will be retracted if they are placed unless the buyer contacts you prior to them bidding.
Look at other auctions for the same phone and check you have all the details.
Special delivery postage for phones is only £5.50 roughly, this is the safest and best way to send them. Make sure you offer this method and emphasise that its safe and secure and insured upto £500 should it get lost.
Don't overcharge on the P&P I would say charge £5 and take a small loss on the post as lower postage attracts more buyers to look at your product.
Start the bidding low, if its a new model then don't worry you will get a decent price for it, starting low gets more buyers on board and can create a bidding war right at the end of the auction.
If I think of anything else I'll let you know.0 -
Also worth mentioning in the item description that you are clever enough not to fall for the scammers, advising them not to waste their time on your auction. Trust me it works (they're only after the gullible eBay newbies)!0

Don't forget to keep a copy of all seriial numbers and the IMEI number, mention in the description that you keep a recoord of all numbers. That should fend off some of the more unsavoury types.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

For the odd times when I've sold mobile phones on eBay I refuse to take Paypal due to the numerous scams associated with mobiles. I've said that my preferred method of payment is for the buyer to pay cash directly into my account in any branch of my bank (Barclays). It shows up cleared online straight away, can't be taken back (unlike chargeback via credit card payments on Paypal) and doesn't cost me anything to receive the payment. I give the buyer my sort code and account number, then as soon as I see the payment arrive I'm happy to send the item off. I also agree with others about making it VERY PLAIN that you won't sell to anyone outside the UK and that you will reject any bids from buyers who have feedback less than 10 unless they contact you first (everyone has to start somewhere on eBay so I don't reject them out of hand).Retired so trying to save even more!0

Don't use BIN unless you want to have to relist it several times. My TV is broken!

The two mobiles I've sold on eBay I've sold via Buy It Now, some phones in a standard auction went for less than my price some for more.
As long as you pick a fair price it'll sell (mine were both for £175, I included the postage with one of them and charged for it on the other)
Don't forget if you do stick it on a BIN you can use the 3, 7 10 day trick to keep it near the top of the listings.0 -
