No lol, it's new. I'm trying to rule out as much as possible since if I have to return something, I need to know what part to return.

Take out the Hd-dvdrw-external cooling ect-then boot the baby see if you can get to bios?

    What size ram is it?
    ddr2
    ddr3
    1gb - 512?
  • Or if you have another pc in the house try the ram stick in there and you could try booting ur new hard drive to see if that working too
  • It sounds to me like you may have grounded the motherboard, try taking out all the parts and put them together outside of your case, on a desk or something. Then turn it on. If it runs and you get a display on your monitor, then thats whats happened. Re install your MOBO to its case, but take proper care to us the right size screws so that no of the heads over lap from the protectors around the screw holes in your mobo and the board is properly seperated underneath from the case.

Taking it out the case and setting it up on the table was the first thing I did, since getting the mobo is was a bit of a fiddle, I though I might have shorted it or ground it.

I've taken everything out besides the CPU and and tried to boot (using on board graphics), the same. Tried booting with one ram stick (tried this with both ram sticks - it's DDR2 5300, two 1gig sticks). I have tested the drive in a sata port connected to my pc and it works fine, but that's a moot point because the thing wont even post.

I don't want to try the ram in my desktop because it's a giant flaming effort lol. I know it's lazy. I figured if it was the ram, I'd get some reaction were I to try and boot with no ram at all installed?

I give up, I've tried everything I can think of and I can't even get to post. Gonna call ebuyer on Monday and return the CPU and motherboard for a replacement since I have no idea which (if any) is faulty.

I'll order some memory listed as supported too, just to be on the safe side.

PC5300 ram is 667mhz , supported , unless yours is 533?? - really try and get a speaker connected to m/board as the post beeps can really help- take one from another case if need be or bodge a small headphone speaker on. PSU is usually no.1 suspect , can you try another?

How could i have forgotten the Psu - Thats a big shout for the winner right there:

And a good tip would be never to go cheap on Psu`s its rarely worth it.

    Sounds like a DOA motherboard.

One last thought - does your PSU have a little red switch on the back which you can use to set the voltage? If so, is it in the right position?

    Is the PSU new?

From a quick read, I suspect one rail of the PSU is down.
    Move along, nothing to see.
