gill, is the baby gril breastfed? And is the fluid milk or colostrum appearing stuff? It's called witches milk, I'll google in a sec....

Thanks Tia. Yeah she's mainly breastfed but had quite a bit of formula last weekend and has gone back to mainly breastfed again. I've done a google and found a couple of things but seem to refer mainly to newborns. My friends DH has just gone away for 2 weeks so she's more worried than she normally would be iykwim.

  • Michelle hun, tell your hubby in no uncertain terms to get his arris into gear right now and go and buy you two birthday cards, one from himself and one from a.

He has a responsibility to a to make sure he sorts these things out for her now.

Fwiw my hubby didn't buy me any either, then said they don't sell them in santorini LOL. We got back on Tuesday, on Thursday afternoon I text him to say I presume my birthday cards were on their way and Lo and behold I got some on Thursday night.

Yes it is bad that they were late, but I still wanted them and hubby needed to know that it was important to me. If I let him get away with it this year it would give him carte blanche to never bother again, which is unacceptable IMHO. Benjamin would be devastated if his dad didn't bother in the future, I know because my dad never did and it made me cry every year on my mums birthday until I was old enough to buy my own.

You need to set the rules now.

Becles - Thanks hun..... I actually love my c-section scar..... not just for it having bought L into the world....a couple of other reasons too LOL If I ever find somewhere who wants to post/publish it, you'll all find out why LOL

Landen is sick, or was sick..... He was really whingey and i couldnt figure it out, he fell asleep on my chest, vomitted in his sleep, woke himself up with a gagging noise, so sat him up etc and he had little tears in his eyes.... so I cried, and then he smiled at me, and some more sick dribbled out LOL It was quite solid milk, so i think it had made it to his stomach ..... not sure whether something was wrong with the milk.... he's fallen asleep now so shall see what happens with the next feed...

    Fab!

I had a message asking why we pour off the first lot of hot water, whether it's for killing bacteria or some other reason?

I said I'd ask one of the team chefs ;)

Partly because it's not hygienic to wash the chicken under the tap (spread of bacteria) but mostly the first boil pulls out a lot of the yucky stuff from the chickens skin and what not. It also means that the end stock will be clear rather than grey-brown.

Don't know the more technical explanation thats how it was explained to me.

ETA Google says that the froth at the top is coagulated protein that appears at the first boil. So I think that just emptying out the water is the easier way to get rid of it, rather than skimming it off. Then you can just leave it to simmer slowly and don't have to go back to it as often.

    Wow quiet afternoon!

Susan - hope you got out, in the end!

Michelle - big hugs hun, how truely unthoughtful of your OH. Specialy as its your first year as a Mummy. Hope you make him pay and he makes it up to you.

EA - we propped T up on the V pillow in her cot (not ideal I know!) and rubbed snuffle baby on her chest when she was all stuffy and she slept way better.

mel - sorry T is feeling rough too x

T has learnt to splash and loves doing it, so now bath time is a very wet time for us all lol. But its so cute to see her having so much fun. Now she is sitting up the bath support is gonna have to be abandoned too as it tilts when she leans forward, has anyone used one of the aquapods? I like the idea but there a bit pricey, tho Have £5 off atm.

Oooh, quiet, I was expecting to come back to pages and pages! We were off at soft play, Molly loved it but a weekend is a bit busy, I think, too many older kids running amok in the baby area.

She's just down for a snooze and we're off out for Chinese tonight. The restaurant is called Man Fat, which concerns me a little but it comes highly recommended. Only problem is that we won't eat for two hours-ish and I'm lightheaded from hunger now!

som- we have the aquapod and Kian loves it :D gave him loads of confidence in the water and he loves to splash around.

although my mum picked it up in a charity shop. she paid 7 euro for it. i was shocked when i saw how much they actually cost.
