MCO Capital loan

Today I have received a demand from Intrum Justitia as they have been instructed by MCO capital to commence recovery action of £726.00. The envelope has a Harlow returns post code on the reverse the same as my original letter from MCO Capital.
Surely this must be all one big con, they must all be in it together. Any further advice please is most welcome. They say they MAY instruct a solicitor or send a debt collector. Advice please on my rights if a person calling themselves a debt collector calls. Thank you.0 -

I think this is the point at which you need to ring IJ and write to them informing that you have never had a loan or even applied for one. You need to also tell them the CRN you have received from AF. I would also advise them that if they do not confirm that they have stopped recovery proceedings on the alleged loan you will be going to a solicitor and commence proceedures to sue them for harassment and applying for an injunction to stop them contacting you. That is what I will be doing if I receive any further letters from them.0 -

Assuming that you have obtained a CRN from AF, then get on the phone sap to IJ in Liverpool (0844 5765731) and inform them that you have never applied for nor received a loan from MCO and demand that they remove you from their list of so called outstanding/unpaid loans. Also demand that they stop sending you threatening letters
If you prefer to write rather than call (I believe that calling is more effective) then you should write to MCO Capital, c/o Intrum Justitia Ltd, 5th Floor, The Plaza, 100 Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L3 9QJ quoting loan reference number and CRN if available. (this address is that recommended in the AF and NFIB web sites)
Any debt collector without a court order/bailiff should be politely to go away (or some other suitable expletive) as they have no legal authority. I very much doubt if one will be sent anyway. It is considered very unlikely that MCO/IJ would obtain a court order under the current circumstance - including police investigation!!!0 -
Thank you both. Have phoned IJ, got through very quickly, they tell me the matter has been dealt with. They did not ask for date of birth only the ref at top of letter and CRN. I am assured that I have been removed from the system but somehow feel doubtful. The lad seemed a real rag bag scouser, very shifty and on his guard, sorry to any scousers reading this but he didn't sound honest. Perhaps I am wrong; the next letter will either reassure me or not. Thanks for the info on debt collector too. Much obliged and well done the backbone of this thread for all your hard work and research.0

Like you Mike I phoned IJ and they said I had been removed from file. This was about 2 weeks ago. I haven't had and dont expect a letter to confirm this. I also haven't had a third debt letter but it's early days yet.0

Geomad, my apologies for not replying sooner. Cancel Experian via their website (my wife did it). I hope it has worked anyway!!! As I will reiterate to all; take out the 30 day free trial and then cancel at the 25 day point.0

I think I spoke to the same chap a couple of weeks ago. I have severe doubts of the usefulness of calling IJ (though I am still waiting for a second letter to arrive, so I am happy to be proved wrong) which is why I'm intending on going down the legal route if they persist in trying to make me pay for a loan I've never had.0 -

I don't know whether this is going to help or hinder, but I'm a Company Secretary registered with CH in Cardiff. Back in May '10 I took advantage of the new provisions and revised the
publicly-available addresses shown for myself & all the company directors to show a Service address (i.e. the company's registered office) rather than our residential ones. These are still on file, but are only accessible by statutory bodies (HMRC, police etc) ..... and also Credit Reference Agencies.0
