MCO Capital loan

I note that you contacted MCO as did I, and am wondering if this then triggers the second same/different letter? Would be interesting to ask others here with second letters if they contacted MCO? Perhaps there's a correlation?
I contacted MCO by post when I got my Helploan letter at the end of September - that's what Action Fraud were advising at that time. I registered with CIFAS the same day. I have not received any further letters of any kind so far. I am still awaiting my Experian credit report in the post so I do not know yet if credit ratings have been requested by other companies.0 -
Hi, My report with Experian shows nothing from MCO but a check from MEM. The MEM check on Experian & loan (which I did not request or receive) pre date my contact with MCO. My address details were incomplete/incorrect on both letters, however not in the same way. Should I re contact AF regarding the MEM check on my Experian report as they could not be very helpful this morning?
I don't believe that there is any question that you should contact AF again and update them of the inconsistencies (sp?) in your Experian report.
That said, I do have to wonder why our fraud investigators are taking so long to find out, and tell us, what in the hell is going on???:mad:0 -
This whole issue stinks!! We are all faced with potential costs associated with CRAs - not to mention the alleged original loan. Then we are advised to stay schtum and not contact MCO etc etc. WHEN WILL SOMEONE - EITHER FROM AF/NCIF OR MCO OR WHATEVER tell us what the hell is going on - or is this a slow burning investigation to placate the complainers???? Comments from any NCIF/AF personnell monitoring this forum!! Time for my medicinal G&T <hic>.0

On a beer myself Geomacl. Investigations into the various bank accounts (HSBC) you might have thought would yield information fairly quickly. Bear in mind that all the services (AF, NFIB, Police) have forged careers out of solving crime) so it's not in their interests to make it look easy. The inquests into 7/7 are just starting - 5 years on. The enquiry into the Iraq war has just fizzled out after spending 10's of millions of tax payers money. I'm probably leading up to saying that this investigation will be on-going and possibly in-conclusive. Incidentally if Experian has given any information to MCO then it is an accessory to a fraud crime and should be investigated. They are of course no strangers to fraud being involved in a fraud against customers in the US where they settled out of court. Lots of info on this if you Google it.0

Hi piglets3 - I think MCO just checked a few CR's where they could do it for free. and enough to project the illusion they were the victim of fraud, and not the cause. It's helped them buy a lot of time convincing the authorities of this. Each contact they have had with victims (which at first was advised by AF) has yielded confirmation of name/address, tel numbers, maybe signatures etc. Dont forget that 2 x £3 SMS's are required to get a loan with your own identity or someone elses. (£6 per victim buys the letters with lots of change left over). Some isolated people may pay up - even more revenue, but the main thing they are into is hacking bank accounts and ID fraud. Just look at their web-sites - they are designed for account hacking and ID fraud.0

I think there is plenty going on in the background with AF and NFIB and the Police. If you were investigating someone you wouldn't go around publishing what you're doing as that would give far too much info to the criminals and allow them to keep one step ahead of you. I'm sure all will be revealed to us in due course.
Experian aren't an accessory to fraud that's plainly nonsense.0 -
Hi David, hope you're right, I would like to see a conclusion to this. The point I was making about Experian is that if they have imparted info to criminals, then I'm afraid they are an accessory to fraud. Simple as that. It would be the same as me or you buying stolen goods. Not good enough to say "We didn't know", ignorance is no defence. They have form, and know what they can and can't get away with in their murky twilight zone of pseudo legal existance. The authorities know they have form, and wont grant them any "get out of jail free" cards if they have been involved either knowingly or not.0

Hello Graham,
I think ignorance is no defence is applied depending on the crime involved. And as Experian have been conducting their usual business then however much people on this forum dislike them then they are not commiting a crime. If I took out a book from the library on how to pick a lock and then committed some house break ins the librarian couldn't then be found guilty as an accessory to those crimes even though they provided the information I used to commit them.
I've been searching for this fraud case in the US you mention can you give me more pointers the only thing I can find is something where someone couldn't get some fraudulent entries removed from their credit report and sued Experian who then settled out of court.0 -
Hi David, library book thing is an interesting analogy. The way I would put it is like this: Experian have secretly gathered info on authors including their signatures etc. A criminal forges some best-selling books (first copies) and asks Experian to check details of the author including signature. Experian do this and as a check provide a copy of the authors signature (without asking the permission of the author). Criminal says thanks and applies signature to his forged copies claiming them to be signed by the author, therefore worth a lot more. Hadn't spotted the case you did about Experien. One of many that are on the Internet follows. It involves 9 million people!

Experian (Costa Mesa, Calif.) this month reached an agreement with the Federal Trade Commission over allegations that the company promised consumers free credit reports only to charge them hidden fees.
The FTC complaint alleged that Experian mislead about 9 million consumers through its two Web sites--Freecreditreport.com and Consumerinfo.com. The complaint said Experian offered consumers a free credit monitoring service only to charge them $80 if they failed to cancel the service after 30 days.
The settlement calls for Experian to disclose the charges clearly on its home page and send letters offering refunds to all customers who signed up for the …
I know I'm cynical David, but I just see these agencies as parasites and cant feel the respect for them that you do. I know that's real so I will respect it and not post any more anti-CRA stuff (unless really provoked). However, diversity of opinion is no bad thing, stay on the forum and together we'll help to solve this mystery.0 -
Think I might have copied/pasted links and things that I'm not supposed to in above post. If that is the case sorry - it was human error.0
