    Thanks for update
Like you I didn't want to give out my credit card details but relented in the end - I had to be convinced by one of their reps before I caved in!!!
Please keep us posted of developments. In case you missed it in this frenzy of posting, MEM have had problems in the past - see another MSE forum:

Hi Piglets3, I had a second letter just over a week ago. First was from MCO second from Helploan. Both were for £513 with the same loan reference number. Both letters were crude with mistakes, and looked like they had been printed on a cheap inkjet printer. Reported both to AF and got a written CRN (perhaps I really need 2 - one for each letter?) The second letter may be to make it look like the debt has been passed on. The trigger to getting the second letter may also be contacting them as this then confirms your name and other details. AF now advise do not contact MCO/Helploan/Balanceloan which are all trading styles of MCO. IJ would handle these non-existant debts and share the loan database with MCO. Their telephone number is on the Helploan letter. They say they are not buying debts from MCO as the Fraud Squad are investigating MCO. Dont know whether this info helps.
  • Thanks for the info grahamqat, My letter is not for the same loan. They are seperate loans from seperate companies. Helploan (MCO) & now Payday UK (MEM).

Yes that's a bit different. I note that you contacted MCO as did I, and am wondering if this then triggers the second same/different letter? Would be interesting to ask others here with second letters if they contacted MCO? Perhaps there's a correlation?

Colinho - please note earlier posts where it seems that MEM are not in the same category as MCO - see earlier (2008) forum re MEM, who have been trading since 2003. MEM does appear to have some credentials as a viable and substantive financial company - albeit their loans are as extortionate as those from MCO!!!

Hmmm Grahamqat - could a further letter from MEM be winging its way to the rest of us who have been duped by MCO???
  • Hi, My report with Experian shows nothing from MCO but a check from MEM. The MEM check on Experian & loan (which I did not request or receive) pre date my contact with MCO. My address details were incomplete/incorrect on both letters, however not in the same way. Should I re contact AF regarding the MEM check on my Experian report as they could not be very helpful this morning?
  • Further, I don't understand why I can find no record of MCO on my Experian report, as I'm sure I have read in an earlier post that AF advised MCO always use Experian. What does it mean exactly if MEM are a member of Cifas & they have used Experian, as it shows they have done on my report?
