Sorry oldbloke, can you explain further please?

    Hi grahamqat,

Posted this some time last week....

IJ's accounts for the year to 31.12.2009:
    Sales: £8,208,000
    Pre-Tax Profit/Loss: £ (12,047,000)
    Working Capital: £ (14,165,000)
    Net Assets: £ (16,704,000)

Quite how they continue to trade is beyond me, unless they get bailed out by their offshore parent co. Their British holding company is in nearly as much trouble.

Not suggesting anything really, just throwing some more information into the pot....

Thanks for that Oldbloke. They look fairly insolvent from the figures. Dont know whether the actual company is sending the letters out though or their ID's been hijacked by the fraudsters. They must have a bad credit rating?
  • Luckily I have CIFAS cover as part of my Marks and Spencer card insurance cover. Worth the £70.00 for three years credit card and Passport cover.

Good point Mike, in fact I took out CIFAS cover last week to protect myself from my details being used in further fraudulent transactions. If a bunch of criminals have my name and address, my worry is that they could try this sort of thing again, or sell my details on.

I think CIFAS have got a lot new business from this scam because when I explained my situation to the CIFAS advisor she said that a lot of people had contacted them because of MCO Capital.

    Yep...£0.00!

Strange though that the posted £8M sales.

It really depends on phone numbers and bank account details on the letters. If those are the same as I've already posted, then I think they are legitimate letters. geomacl, colinho, what do you think?

Hi Oldbloke, yes the HSBC bank account and telephone numbers are key to this. AF took all the bank account details from me and said the bank account would be investigated. The 0844 telephone numbers are trickier to track down. I notice that the MCO number (0844 5762340) and the Helploan number (0844 5765731) are different but quite similar. Would be interesting to see if these are still manned - might try later on from our VOIP line so they cant trace or charge.

0844 576 5731 is an IJ number. I tried it and it hung up after saying 'Thankyou for calling Intrum Justitia' I then called the switchboard number 0151 472 7155, to get through to them. They took the reference number off my letter and told me to contact AF to get a CRN, which I'd already got....a strange thing to do if they're more involved in this? Not really sure what the advice is now on the thread about calling them to put a stop on the account.

Interesting that Oldbloke - so IJ and Helploan are one and the same. Current advice from AF (not sure about from this thread) is:

"You are also being advised not to contact MCO Capital Limited directly."

This was first put on their web-site on 1st October and I think remains unchanged. I've just tried the MCO number (0844 5762340) and there is a message redirecting you to a new number: 0844 879 7688. When you phone this you get a menu around getting a loan or checking on a loan status. Do you recognise this number at all?
  • I attempted to contact IJ via their customer services email address on their web site. It was bounced back to me as non existant.

I've tried all the numbers above on the https://www.saynoto0870.co.uk web site and none of them are there. But if you search for Intrum Justitia on that site, they have zillions of phone numbers!!!! They seem able to generate new numbers on a daily basis????
