MCO Capital loan

Thanks Grahamqat for your detective work. I don't have a mortgage and pay my credit card off every month but I still have searches carried out on Experian - latest (ex MCO) was a check by a utility company before they set up a direct debit account for my gas and electricity. Unbelievable is it not? Would the world of finance end if these companies ceased to exist - I doubt it! Could I set up such a company and make money in my sleep?0

Sorry for delay in replying Geomad -
Something else came to light which is the existance of so-called secret credit agencies. I understand one is based in Stoke-on-Trent. These operate like the others, but do not allow access of people to their own data. It seems the secret agencies are being increasingly used by financial companies to check on people. Due to the existance of these, it probably makes checking your own rating with the accessible agencies irrelevant. You will never be able to check the data held by the secret agencies and never be able to correct any mistakes.
It's not secret their website is www nhunter .co .uk (had to space it out as I don't think direct links are allowed). They will provide what info they hold for a tenner (which is what Experian and co used to charge many years ago).
But back to MCO has anyone had anything other than two letters requesting payment yet. Is anything further going to happen or are Intra Justicia (or whatever they are called) going to chase these non existent loans are have they realised it's all a big fraud?0 -

Most people have received just one letter, some have received 2 and one or two people have received an email from Niklas Furu (on behalf of MCO) If you look back through the previous posts you will see the wording of this email - it's the same in all emails and it advises recipients to report a crime, get a Crime Reference Number (CRN) and write to MCO at Imperial House, Kingsway, London with this CRN. (NOTE: NFIB note on AF web site advises us NOT to make any further contact with MCO
So, bottom line not a lot developing at present - we're all eagerly awaiting the conclusions of the AF/NFIB/NFA/CoLP investigation. I believe that it has been recognised as one big fraud - just who is the culprit is not known but there is a strong theory/suspicion that MCO are the baddies!!0 -
Some help please. Upon receiving this fraud I have done all required, police et cetera. I now have another letter telling me that the debt will be passed to a debt collection agency. What do I do now, what happens if debt collectors, who believe they are being instructed correctly, arrive at my door. Do I not get a chance to go to court to fight my corner and get this mess sorted out. Can debt collectors just walk in? I have never seen anything like this before in my life. I am told that this thread has fallen into disrepute because of some silly comments being posted but I should be very grateful for any help please.0

Feel for you Mike, it's a real scary situation, having the worry that some of the scabs who work for "Debt Collectors" could be turning up to threaten you and your family. If you've followed this thread through, you'll see the course of action to take - it's imperative that you contact ActionFraud, and get the Crime Reference Number. Having a police incident number is not sufficient. The advice (and this comes from the National Fraud Investigation Bureau) is NOT to contact MCO.
Debt collectors have no powers, and no right of entry. Bailiffs do, but they must have court authority. Even then, they cannot "break-in", or use violence or coercion to gain entry. Curiously British law says that if they can gain entry through an open door, or window, or with your consent, then they can start seizing stuff. Nice.
Debt Collectors, as I understand it, must make an appointment under OFT guidance, but in your circumstances, as long as you have a CRN I don't think you have anything to worry about - you are the victim of attempted fraud, so if anybody turns up without an appointment show them a COPY of your CRN docs, after you've asked them for ID (name and company), and told them that you will be recording their visit, and notifying police as part of the crime. Also useful if somebody can video any conversations. Hope that helps, you'll get other good advice here, too.0 -
Has anyone managed to report this scam via the Actionfraud website? I get so far and it tells me to report it to the Police - even though I haven't parted with any money. I'm sure the Police wont be interested, especially given the vast number of people who appear to have received similar demands for payment.0

Hi Mike,
I've posted recently about Bailiffs....If they arrive, ask them for the court papers and tell them to S*D OFF! They can't gain entry unless you invite them in as colinho has said, and they'd need a warrant and a police officer to gain entry otherwise. In order to get a warrant, they'd have to issue a Court Summons, which would be sent to you by HM Court Services. Once received, you have 30 days to respond before judgement can be given. I don't suppose they'd go to those lengths.
Check the phone number on your letter against those posted at the beginning of last week, (somewhere between page 10 and 20 of this thread). If it matches the number posted, then give them a call and explain. If it's Intrum Justitia that answer the phone then they know all about this, as many of us have called them. Whatever you do, do not visit MCO/Helploan website. Do not email or contact them directly. Hope this helps to calm the nerves.....0 -

Of paramount importance you must update your "account/report" with Action Fraud - you will need your CRN and the password they gave you when you reported to the agent.0 -
Thanks everyone for sharing your experience. I am in the same boat and I'm really pleased I found this thread. I have received one letter, supposedly from Helploan, but actually from their agents Intrum Justica. I have registered the incident with Action Fraud and have received a CRN like many of you. The AF advisor told me that MCO were currently under investigation. However if they are a bogus organisation, how come they are co-operating with credit rating agencies to remove their searches from people's credit records? (eg post 473 from davidbuk)
I wonder if we are all linked in some way - in the same dataabse that has been hacked into?0
