Having never even heard of them before I read this thread, I've spent half the afternoon looking at the enormous world of Bento Boxes :rotfl::rotfl:
They look fab :T0 -
ebay.com are cheaper for the bento boxes
longer wait of course but not much
we buy all our bento goodies from .com
i have a question
i realize i may be better asking where to find the holy grail:rotfl:
can anyone recommend a flask, for soup
that will keep it hot
had so many that just dont do the job
i am reluctant to buy anymore
my teens would love to take soup
but leave home at 7.45am, lunch isnt till 1pm
so it needs to keep it hot all that time0 -
What a great thread - nice and timely for me too!
I religiously pack up my husband and two daughters every day and yet - find myself raiding thelocal sandwich shop 9which is bith expensive and fattening) ...as I need to tighten my belt, in more ways than oneI would love to join in!
PS Love the bento boxes and am now desperate to own one, but have made a resolution not to buy anything i dont REALLY need this month.....:)Well Behaved women seldom make history

Trying hard to save a lttle bit more so going down the packed lunch route. Have discovered that I am not good at fixing them in the morning so need to have things ready the night before. So far lots of pasta salad and rice salad. Make extra during my evening meal and then just add my salad stuff to it. Thinking of getting some cous cous for a change.
As have very little time to eat lunch also making some homemade soup so can have some of that as soon as I get home. Will be very handy once the really cold weather sets in as lunch has to be cold.MFW 91 op 2014 £410/1000

Today's lunch: verdict is fantastic. Interestingly, the teriyaki chicken recipe from just bento was too strong when warm but perfect at room temperature.
Tomorrow's plan: frittata (made on Sunday), tabbouleh (ditto), potato & broad beans with anchovy dressing (ditto), segments of little oranges
It has to be relatively not-pungent because I am in a meeting that will probably go from 9.30 until at least 3. But also, if they aren't nice after all, there will be free sandwiches anyway. Just not very healthy ones.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -

All this talk about Bento boxes.... willpower aureol, willpower. You don't need it.. don't really, really, really want it (sweat pouring off as I write) and what's the rest of Martin's mantra?
hmm, if I can sell some more stuff on ebay, might treat DH to one, and then maybe DS. DS goes to a childminder 3 days a week while I work in an office. Childminder provides his dinner but not always happy with what she feeds him, so if I made his lunch and gave it to her... he may eat it and at least I will be happy.
Anyhow, today, I took packet soup in, bought a bread roll from Greggs and hot sausage roll for lunch. Made DH boring pork and salad cream sandwiches which he was not impressed with.
Anyhow, I was going to make DH chicken wraps for tomorrow, but we didn't get home until 7.30pm, by time fed DS, DH came in, put shopping away, fed DH, fed myself.... can't be bothered. So DH is getting tuna sandwiches for lunch tomorrow, he likes them. Just not everyday.
And I am making pasta, throwing in some peppers, mackerel fillets, tomatoes, sauce and HM Italian Herb and Sundried Tomato rolls. Hope they are yummy....0
