Lots of green tomatoes used - did you give up waiting for them to ripen? I don't start thinking about green tomato recipes until about October. ;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Time to go into bartering territory....:D

I don't make "arrangements" in so many words - I just get given a bit of something "surplus" by someone a coupla times and then (when I get a bit of "something surplus") remember that they were commenting that they would like some (whatever-it-is) that I have a load of....so I give them some

That seems to be about the way it works - rather than direct "swopsee"...

:D I got blight. 5.5kilos of green toms, fingers crossed and praying to sun gods for the rest outside. Picking 500g or more every day from those are still ripening.

I may have over estimated the potential production capability of 35 plants.

I have no advice, but would happily kill for your recipes! ;)

I think swapsies are a good idea. Or what about presents? You could give them as (part) birthday/Christmass gifts.

lol, do you want all of them?

And they do get given away as presents. These are the ones I have left kicking around.

I also have 13 jars of jam :/ and only 2 of us live in this household. It's also unfortunate that he prefers marmite on toast to jam. :rotfl:
  • personally i like to stir chutney(a good tablespoon or 2) into homemade cury, gives an extra swetness and depth,so i can see no reason why you cant add a dollop into stews/casseroles even chilli.....mind you, ive only started doing this to ease the stockpile in my own pantry ....... theres only so much cheese on toast with chutney you cant eat! :rotfl:

How many  We have 5 plants and that's more than enough for 4 of us :)

Off to see if we have a thread on this ..........there are some suggestions in this thread (not sure about Branston pickle face mask, though  :rotfl:)

I've often wondered if you could liquidise chutney and make brown sauce?

:rotfl: Not sure I could use them as a face mask.

I like variety so this year we had green sausage, gardener's delight, red cherry, tigerella, marmande, roma, balconi yellow. 2-6 plants of each (ish).

    Hi misskool,

I tend to have more chutney than I need at any given time, but just keep it to use as small gifts when going to friends or if someone has done me a favour.

There was a thread a few days ago on using up chutney so now that your thread has dropped down the board I've merged them together to keep the suggestions together.
