    Are you sure? Don't want to push you into it if you would prefer the easier solution.

    Yes. you would need a Bootable USB drive. Can you create one?

    Have you tried using Live Update? May be an easier path.

    just tried that as it goes , it did not offer a bios update

    only found an intel.inf update

  • If you've restored the xp serial is a pc world one and will not allow you to register it. You need to type the code in off the xp sticker on the bottom of your pc. I've got an advent 4211 (original) with msi bios and broadcom wifi card, had to go through online activation after 1st msi bios update and wifi change, didnt need to after upgrading the harddrive or ram though.

    I call it the easy way as a BIOS update has a small chance of failing...and I like the risk. :) I should have written the safer way.
