  • We received £25 vouchers last time from using our Tesco Visa card, which we were able to exchange for £100 vouchers for food at Bella Italia. That's a 4% cashback. We used £50 worth at a birthday meal for our daughter and still have £50 in hand.

    NO - Don't make any purchases or you may start paying interest.

    Barclaycard had an offer where you had to make purchases, but it was withdrawn because the advertising and offer was misleading according to the office of fair trading.

    If you aren't after the best cashback deal or 0% offer, I use Nationwide for purchases for the additional benefits such as extended warranty, insurance and no commission for foreign currency transactions.

    Smile :), it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
  • I've had the Halifax One card in the past and now have the Sainsburys VISA card, this expires in 2-3 months time. What is the next best card available to apply for? The web page only lists these two at present.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike
  • I may have missed something here but Martin says the Halifax One card is offering 12 months at 0% on purchases, yet when I go to the website it tells me this;

    Halifax One Card
    0% interest on balance transfers for the first 12 months, 0% interest on purchases for the first 3 months, and an excellent typical rate of 15.9% APR (variable). A handling fee of up to 2% applies per balance transfer.

    My tart alert came up today on my 0% purchase card, so I need to renew. Any advice please?

    My mantra is simple: If I don't help myself first, I shouldn't expect it from others. If I don't like something, I will change it. If I can't change it, I will learn to deal with it.

    I accept responsibility for my own actions and my own situation. A sense of entitlement is not healthy and will only lead to consistent disappointment.

    BTW, what are you going to do with the balance on your card? For 0% on balance transfers see http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.htm

    Hi ,

    does anybody have any idea as to what credit limit sainsburys is offering on their cards ?
    I would like to put my home double glazing on it and dont want to apply if they are offering a small limit.

    I think some time back Barclays had a similar offer and martin said they were taking long to process and had small limits.

  • Martin mentions GE's very strict credit screening policy. I have just applied for, and been offered the card, despite not owning property and stuff, and having other cards with a balance which I have transferred to GE as the 0%-offer on these came to an end, which used to create a few problems with other companies in the past. So if you haven't been in arrears with any payments, it may still be worth giving GE a try. I should also mention that initially I had been offered by them a somewhat disappointingly low credit limit which wouldn't have allowed me to 'tart on' and transfer my full balance to them; however, on registering the card by telephone, my credit limit was immediately upped (in this case almost tripled) instantly by the guy on the phone so that I was able to shift the full balance to them. Thus, so far, they've left a nice impression with me, and thumbs up for them.
