Its a great place to spend a break or holiday. We love it up there, Always go around the Glen Coe area and have been right up to the Kyle of Lock Alsh<sp>
Round Fort William is a very good base http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/areafwil/hotels.html
This is one of my Favourite places http://www.highlandcruises.co.uk/ Glennfinnan is just so georgous and doing the Highland train journey is a must
It depends on your budget as well The Ballachulish hotel is very ncie but unles syou can land on special it can be priceyIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -

I am assuming you have a car.
If so, take the M74 to Glasgow and then you have a choice.
1]Drive up the west side of Loch Lomond through Arrochar and either go further west to Inverary and Oban, or go straight on to Crianlarich-both beautiful runs.
2]Head north to Aberfoyle and the Trossachs. Really fantastic views and so many lochs. Less wild and rugged than Argyll but breathtaking nevertheless.
There are loads of B&B's to choose from if you don't want to settle for one place. And that way you get to see more of the country.
After that it depends how long your holiday is and what interests you most.
Sightseeing, walking, climbing, fishing or golf. There are also distilleries worth
a visit as well as shops selling tweeds, tartans & woollens often from their own
factories.
Fort William, Inverness and of course Glen Coe are well worth a visit too.
Once you are North or Northwest of Glasgow you cannot really go wrong
if it is scenery you want.
And if you do get to Oban, a visit to Skye would be great. And there is
still Mull and Iona.........
Just go and enjoy.0 -

Have a good trip where ever you decide to go.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
Another great place and not as far I can recommend the Isle of Arran, just off the west coast of Ayrshire. Scotland in minature. It will cost about £70 return for yourselves and a car to get there, its well worth it.

It's worth getting the "Scotland the Best" guide book by Pete Irvine, it gives recommendations on everything from the best hotels\b&b's etc to the best things to do and covers all budgets. I live in Scotland and use it all the time when we are travelling. It definitely pays for itself

This camp site is lovely http://www.glen-nevis.co.uk/They also do cottages and lodges, as well as static caravans.Stayed in a static van a couple of years ago and couldn't fault it. It was comfortable inside, spotlessly clean and well stocked. They left things like washing up liquid and cloths, and all the towels and bed linen were there for us. There is a gas fire in the sitting room, and electric heaters in the bedrooms and kitchen, and plenty blankets so you'll be warm enough! They also left a welcome tray with coffee/tea, milk and biccies which was a lovely sight after a long drive! All the people I dealt with were lovely and friendly too.The site is right at the base of Ben Nevis, so we had a lovely view looking up at the mountain. It's only a short walk into Fort William which has a big supermarket if you want to cater yourself. The restaurant onsite is fab too though. Had a meal in there and the food was gorgeous, but book in advance as it gets busy.I would highly recommend this site, and would certainly go back again. Here I go again on my own....0
