Primus and Plusnet - Good/Bad??

Hi all, am a newbie to the site as am in need of some advise on these 2 companies.
i am currently with sky, for all 3 tv phone broadband, however I want to cancel my sky subscription so need to find a new phone/broadband provider.
I can see both primus and Plusnet are cheap (or seem to be on the face of it) however after googling for reviews on them they tend to be fairly negative. Is this just because only people who have had negative experiences post reviews and you don't get to hear the good ones?
Anybody who are with these companies, I would be grateful if you could offer your experiences on them.
Thanks
sarah

You don't need to have a Sky TV sub any more to have Sky phone and broadband services.
Has your line possibly been LLU'd by Sky though? If so you have to go back to BT for 12m line rental, only then can you switch your ISP.
I was with Plusnet for a year and found their CS to be pretty good.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thankyou! I was completely unaware of this. Thats great news for me as I am more than happy with the SKY broadband, it generally has no downtime for me and is giving speeds of 7.6 Mb which I think is good for my area.
Gonna give them a call and cancel the TV, at least then I don't have the worry of "what if the other provider doesn't match up" and being locked in to a new contract.
Once again Thankyou!!!:beer:0 -
i've been with primus and have had no problems - the customer service is efficent0

i've never had any problems , they send a monthly email out
when martin reccomended them as cheapest line rental i switched over to them from bt , i was already a calls and bb user , i think it took them 3-4 weeks to sort out , but i just let them get on with it , didn't have to chase them up , in fact they called me 2-3 times just to let me know what was going on0 -
Revitalising old thread as similar question
Currently have Virgin Phone line and broadband so thinking of moving to Primus and Plusnet.
Also have a BT line which was disconected when i moved to Virgin but still have the socket so guess its a matter re-activating
Does anyone have both primus and plusnet? as works out quite cheap if you get seperatley.
Plusnet - 6.49 per month for broadband plus free for 4 months
Primus - 7.99 per month for land line
Both for 12 months so works to be 147.80 for 12 months so only £12.31 per month - Bargain
first would the move be possible and second worth taking seperatly?0 -
Also have a BT line which was disconected when i moved to Virgin but still have the socket so guess its a matter re-activatingTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

no dial tone. What would i need to do? Cant the new providers activate the services?0

I've had Plusnet for a while. On their basic tariff we were regularly going over our allowance (I think my housemate does stream a fair bit of TV etc, but wouldn't say we were very heavy users), running up bills of approximately £20.
However, we've now changed tariff. My housemate sorted it, think its's £11 a month for unlimited internet.
Additionally, we just changed from BT to Primus and have found the process very smooth. We don't use our landline much but didn't even notice any disturbance in our internet.:)
So hopefully we now have phone and unlimited broadband for under £20 a month which I think is pretty good..?0 -
