OP I admire you for your honesty on this thread but what you have to realise is that 99.9% of MSE members have never broken the law, have never claimed any benefits and have always paid all taxes. So can you blame them for taking the moral high ground?0

Hi I don't want to come accross all smug and conceited or anything.
BUT.
I won . woohoo for me. So I finally got a response from the train company after speaking with the visa fraud department.
I received a cheque for the outstanding amount owed to me of £20. :j
No appology though. suprise suprise.
I am thinking of having it framed and put on my wall instead of cashing it.
I didn't get a refund for my postal charges but I am going to have to let go of that one for now i guess.
So to all you hating / doubting thomas's
:T Nah Nah.0 -
Oh goody. Anotehr cheat wins.
Your red text just makes you look like a fool.
You're normally more savvy and get out of them but you're not a fare dodger. How do you not have the correct fare on an Oyster card? Or are you in the habbit of boarding trains without credit on it. Your own post admits you've done it before. And I dont doubt you'll do it again.
Hope they take you to the cleaners next time.0 -
Hang on, re-reading this it seems like a hollow victory.
You received a cheque for £20
They originally said they were fining you £20 but took £40.
So this £20 is only the £20 too much they took and the fine still stood?
You may well find they have your photo in their database of fare dodgers now, you may be watched more carefully. I know Merseyrail (several years ago) used to have pictures on the wall alongsidet he escalators showing fare dodgers.0 -
A hallow victory, a reward of a piece of paper, but alas as I recall, the fine was £20, and has still been paid.
To me that was £20 wasted, and your time, that also was wastd. Me, I would have spent it with Brenda in the Dog and Duck0
