payperparcel will take up to 31kg, but the buyer will need to check the sizes as it goes on volume.
Don't forget to charge for the packaging materials & package really well with bubble wrap & cardboard to prevent damage. Also make sure that they pay for adequate insurance.
If they decide that it's too much hassle, have you tried your local Gumtree, no fees to pay.
Also, (seems to be my favourite word lately) if you get a buyer who wants to collect, try & get cash on collection. You can't refuse Paypal but if they want to pay by paypal offer a discount, say it's so that you have instant access to the money & no fees. There's the Paypal for collection items scam & I'm sure that Soolin has recently said that nursery equipment is being scammed a lot.

Horrid as it may seem baby items are a very highly scammed area.

OP. if you are still following this thread DON'T LET THEM SEND A COURIER'. They get all the benefit you take all the risks. They don't even have to insure it, think about it, it remains your responsibility to get the item to them tracked and in one piece, if that does not happen they just chargeback via paypal.

If they arrange the courier, can you gain access and have all the paperwork necessary to prove delivery, and if the item is over £150 that must include a signature of the person at their paypal registered address showing online?

The simplest scam is to arrange a courier give seller paperwork and then just have it delievered to a different address, so easy to scam the seller.

Collect in person does not mean send a courier. Tell them that you will allow a courier but they need to bring cash with them for payment, and suitable packaging boxes and courier will need to pack it securely.

If you want to pack it yourself then arrange the courier yourself and charge them for courier and packaging accordingly.

I definitely agree with this. If you add the courier option to your listing you will get a much higher price (as well as the paypal protection) which is exactly why the buyer wants to arrange it themselves.

I had a pushchair listed a few months ago for collection only as I had no packaging and couldn't really be bothered (it wasn't worth much). It didn't sell but as soon as the auction finished I had messages from 3 or 4 people wanting to buy it for the start price + courier cost. I pointed out that it wasn't worth me getting hold of packaging, doing it all up, waiting in all day for a courier, for the sake of the £5 or so I'd get after fees. Only 1 of them replied to that - with a ':('. It went on freecycle!!

  • As others have said, if you are happy to pack it and send it, make sure you have control of the situation by offering postage at a cost and with a courier you are happy with. This buyer is getting it cheap as it is collection only, then getting all the benefits of delivery with very few costsand reduced risk. If you offer delivery you will get more bids, and you can charge for packing it. If you don't want to pack it, simply say sorry you have won a collection only item, please come and collect it. I had the same situation recently but wasn't prepared to pack it, which was why I had listed it collection only. Got rid of it via second chance offer, which made me more than packing it ever would, and was a lot less problematic. Good luck.

If you have a bike shop or store like Halfords, they usually have the boxes that bikes come in. As they tend to 'make them up' now for customer collections they have loads of boxes out the back. You can fold them arround any large object for posting.

Also good for when you move house and have large mirrors or pictures!

I bought an almost identical thing on ebay, and I'm quite sure the seller really regrets offering delivery! It arrived in 3 HUGE boxes!

It was Citylink who delivered it, so perhaps try them, but you will be expected to box it up correctly.

I wouldn't let them organise their own courier though, as it's rather risky.

Why didn't it sell first time, as most baby stuff sells well and at a good price! Did it have enough pictures etc...?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
