On the whole all is well. Trying to save up some money as our tennancy agreement is up in May and there is a chance the owners will be coming back. (it was only a 2 year agreement in may 2009). It that happens we will no doubt need 6 mth rent to put down. I need to save about 4.5K I am not doing very well. I hav'nt even mentioned this to the OR as I would not imagine they will care. Some advise on that point would be good.
I've found your story really interesting and quite reassuring...so thank you for posting it...and keep us updated:)
I have some advice re Housing that may help...
1) You must put yourself on the local Council Housing Register (if you haven't already)...
2) Talk to the Housing Department about your concerns about the possibility of having to leave the house...
3) Housing departments have a duty (by law) to PREVENT homelessness and not just to help the homeless..you fall into the category of "being threatened with homelessness" and they MUST help...
4) You and your family are in PRIORITY need as you have children...so you should receive lots of advice and help...
5) Not saying you shouldn't save for the deposit or that you shouldn't look for new accommodation but, if that's a hardship the council should be able to help with deposits or with deposit bonds...
6) They should also help you find accommodation...
I should point out that the help offered by the Council's homelessness officers will vary enormously from one area to another...but it's always worth a shot (you might be lucky and have an area office that's s*** hot
You never know - you might even be offered a nice new Housing Association house in a nice area at a greatly reduced rent
Take care and hope this helps0 -
Aint the Co-op great
I just changed my car insurance to them today. I tried to do it on-line and I was declined so called them and did it and they were happy to supply me and with monthly payments. I did of course tell them I am a BR. They asked me if I had a cashminder account so maybe its a pre req for them to supply a BR. Not only that but I added my wife to the policy for around £100 per month cheaper than the closest quote. Yes you read right 100 dabbers. She is under 25 and on a provisional licence and car it 2 litre 4*4 so most wont touch her.
Great huh.
I then contacted the OR to tell them my outgoings had gone up. I think my OR hates me. It was the third e-mail I had sent her without reply. I called two days ago too make sure they had my signed IPA back and was told I would get a call back. It never came. I did finaly get a copy of their IPA calculations. Took about 4 weeks of asking tho.
She sent me an e-mail back asking me if I am "Trying to say I cant afford the IPA". I have made it clear that I will not contest it and sent the signed agreement back to her two weeks ago.
There seems to be crossed wires everytime there is contact but it seems to me that the reason for that is they Ignore me until I either insist on the telephone or write an email composed using the same direct hold no punches kinda language they use when speaking with me. No thats not fair. Whenever I call the person who answres the phone is very nice but the examiner who told me to contact her whenever I wanted seems to be annoyed with me every time i contact her. I'm only following her instructions giving her information she has told me to give her. I feel like I'm pestering her.
Anyway moan over. On the whole things goin well

BR + 6 Months.....ish
Well its been far to long since I was here. I did promise to keep this updated to give a full account of the BR year and so far I am failing you. For that I apologize.
To be honest there has not been allot to tell you.
My case was sent to the RTLU some time in December. My IPA was worked out at £64 a month but I only had to pay three times as my wife has now finished work to look after the children. Well with the child care costs we worked out that she was working full time for £55 a month......what’s the point.
I am now paying the nil tax code part of the ipa which will finish at the end of this month.
Keep hoping for ed but I never banked on it happening. I know that in another 6 months I will be discharged so working towards that now.
One problem is that we are desperate to move. I have a good job and have never missed a rent payment but because of the BR I cannot be trusted. We need to save up a fortune for 6 months rent (which is not going well) or find a guarantor. We have neither.
I have had a few problems with moonbeaver. Their admin as very poor. I had a letter telling me that I had not sent the pay slip they asked for and in the same post my pay slip back thanking me for sending it to them. They keep changing payment dates without telling me and at one point were asking for two payments in one month. They said it was my fault because I paid early in December. Anyway these things are always sorted out quickly over the phone.
On the whole things are good. I don’t know what sort of mess I would be in now if I hadn’t taken the BR and I really know it was the best choice thing for me and my family. The problems I have mentioned pale into insignificance when compared to owing 40K to the Northern Rock!!!!
I'll try to come back more often0 -
6 days till AD
Wow. It seems like 5 minutes since I was here writing about my pending bankruptcy and here I am about to get AD.
I again apologies for not coming back here as much as I said I would but there is never really much to tell you.
I have now managed to move house. We found a guarantor and used a letting agent we have used before who put a good word for us with the landlord.
Not much else to report really. Moon beaver refunded the overpayment I made to them (Took 4 months but what the hey).
IPA still there but still set to nil.
I've had a few issues with looking for a new job. I keep getting calls back and told I am perfect for the job and they would be contacting me for interview and then they disappear off the face of the earth. Cant help thinking they check me out then decide they don’t want a br so just slope off.
Anyway its no biggie still in the job I’ve been in for over 8 years and although I wish I wasn’t I’m still getting paid and its not that hard work.
That’s all from me. I'll write again next Tuesday once my status has changed to discharged. heheh
