My Bankruptcy Log

Options
4 Days Pre BR

Just finished the forms off so I can print off tomorrow for my court date monday.

I know you guys who have been through it all say you were worrying for nothing once the court bit is done but I really cant help feeling worried as it approaches.

I'll keep this post updated over the next few weeks as I've found reading other peoples accounts of what has happened to them very usefull and hope I can provide that service for others.

Come the 20th you'll be one of those people telling me not to worry about going to court I'm sure :)
Did you ever find out who threw it??!! More importantly, what was it that was thrown?!!

Hi Who, I was in exactly the same position last week and thought that even though everyone else said it was fine, it would be different for me. But, guess what, they were right and it went really smoothly and everyone was nice, polite and professional. You'll be fine and although i say not to worry, you probably still will til it is over with on monday :D. good luck!!!

Take something to read, change for the drinks machine and car park.

Check with the court how many copies of the forms they require, some want 1 and some 3.

  • Ok thanks
I have donme three copies of the forms just to cover all bases. My dad is going to come with me so I'll make sure I have plenty of change as he's a bit of a tea monster.
I have a TV on HP from a local shop. I have spoken to the manager and he is happy for me to carry on paying it and keep it. Of course the money will have to come out of any surplus and not allowed on the SOA. Will the OR be ok with this as I suppose there is no money in for them to give to creditors? (My wife will be paying for it out of her wages)

It was a very weird day. Stressed in the morning, getting to court, having to wait a few hours until I got the paperwork (at the High Court - probably different in other places). Wondering if they'd refuse it for some reason. Getting the certificate to confirm bankruptcy and then just wanting to sleep for a week because a weight had been lifted.

Looking back it was pretty straightforward - the people at the court were really friendly and professional. It was just a paper exercise.

But its a day I'll never forget - and I can honestly say that since then things have got better. Only the occasional letter from a bank and they stop as soon as I send them a copy of my bankruptcy certificate.

Bankruptcy isn't easy, but its not the end of the world either. In fact, its the start of a new better one.

    Best of luck.
