I've used the Gillette Mach3 system since it was launched and I've easily spent several hundred pounds on blades over the years (it would have been even more if Wilko's didn't exist!). Now that a new Gillette system has been launched with even higher prices I baulked at the idea of upgrading.
As a happy user of many own brand products I've tried 2 much lower cost alternatives.
Tesco's triple blade system - £3 approx for 4 blades. Doesn't shave as close as Gillette but the blades seem to last as long (5-6 days or so).
Big down side is the very fiddly replacement of blades.
Aldi's Excite For Men triple blade system. £1.59 for 4 blades. Shaves 90 to 95% as well as Gillette. Blades also stay sharp for the same amount of time.
Was paying about £6 for 4 Gillette blades. No contest. Aldi wins hands down.

What do you use for lubrication?
_pale_ I need to rephrase that...
Do you use shaving gel, foam or oil?If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I use Somerset's Shaving Oil. £3 per bottle. Each bottle lasts 2-3 months approx.0

why dont you buy your blades in bulk off of ebay?? my other half does this and saves loads, he must be stocked up for a couple of years at least and its not like they are going to go off or anything and he is always going to have to shave, it saves him going to the local shops where his blades are extorshionate (sp)proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat moneyquote from an american indian.0

My wife just bought me the new Gillette Fusion 5 Power shaver and I'm very impressed. I know its expensive but IMHO its worth it. I've been able to shave with it every day without any irritation whatsoever, brilliant! It makes the Mach 3 feel like a Bic or something, I'm never going back even if the Fusion 5 power is expensive. I will however look into getting cheaper blades off ebay. Is ebay reliable for this sort of thing? I thought the only blades you could get off ebay were imitation or damaged?SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0

I was going to recommend that.Besides being a good product, I bought a 35ml bottle for about a tenner in May 2005, and I'm just getting to the end of it. :money:
Makes your blades last longer too.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Something is odd here. I use Sensor Excel and a blade easily lasts 6 weeks or longer with Gillette foam - No I do not grow bum fluff either but sometimes have to shave twice a day or as suggested to me once "why don't you shave from the inside" But then again shaving never has irritated my skin, so I might just be lucky. The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0
