  • Do the Freecycle UK moderators automatically become the Freegle moderators? If they do then I will definitely not be joining Freegle as I was told my membership to my local Freecycle group was denied because I didn't understand the group's 'ethos', which is basically "We at Wandsworth Freecycle are committed to reducing waste by connecting individuals in the London Borough of Wandsworth who are throwing away goods with others who are seeking them."

Can you believe that someone actually had the cheek to tell me that my application was rejected because I 'do not appear to understand the Freecycle Group ethos.'? How can a moderator deduce that from my postcode and response that I would like to join to 'see what kinds of items are offered'. What a snob!

I'm sorry, but some of you moderators should not be moderators! :(
  • Hi There

No the organisaions are seperate so Freecycle UK moderators
can't automatically become Freegle moderators because they
    volunteer and moderate for Freecycle.

  • to complicat matters, mods of the local yahoo group which was freecycle (before they flounced), set up and scalped a lot of members to 'greencycle', which also has the freegle banner..?

freecycle, afaik, operates only on their own site now, nothing left on yahoo groups..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

.... would recycle just the same"
    (sorry Shakespeare!)

Whether we be Freecycle, Freegle, Greencycle, or one of the others that i can't remember the name of right now, we all perform a service to the planet.

By reusing, like the Wombles of Wimbledon Common, we help keep landfil at bay..... I just wish more people would use them.

Freecycle Group Owner and Moderator in Somerset.

(ps. We do a swapping and loaning out site too, SomersetSwapsandLoans. Why buy a brand new tool for one job when you can borrow one for a few days from someone local. Freecycle don't allow that, so we set up one for our Freecyclers in Somerset (.... and Cornwall, Devon, Wiltshire and Dorset too))
