Blackberry Upgrade

Hello there

Was just wondering if any of you guys could help as am a bit clueless.
Have come to the end of my o2 18th month contract, i currently have a Nokia 5800 and pay £19.99 for 600 minutes, 1000 txts and unlimited data.
I also have o2 broadband at home.

I was wanting to upgrade to a Blackberry, but was wondering which model I should get, I literally have no idea, and have never used one.
Also I was wondering what kind of price contract I should be looking at, I've been with o2 for 6 years and they've been very good to me so I know I can haggle, I was just wondering what to ask for.

Am quite happy with my 600 mins, could drop it to 400, and would prefer unlimted txts and unlimited data.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

I'm doing the same in a few weks. My general understanding seems to be that a £35 contract will get you a blackberry, 900 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data. I want the blackberry bold. I prefer it but my suggestion would be you try a few out - do your friends have them?

    Interested in peoples responses though.

Also how unlimited is unlimited when it comes to data? I get a bit confused with this and I know with my current phone it tried to download my yahoo inbox which was huge and it cost me. Does a blackberry do this?

One thing I'm going to do is go to o2, orange etc and ask for thier latest blackberry packages and get some info to arm myself with prior to calling 3 for an upgrade!

  • i think on O2 the "unlimited" data is capped at 1GB and the texts at around 3000, see if you can get unlimited wifi as part of the deal.

with email, you can "push" it onto you're blackberry as long as you have the blackberry price plan

new blackberry slider/torch is coming out soon
  • wasn't received very well in the states
  • I used to have the Blackberry Curve 8900 on contract when the contract finished I went to Simplicity sim only. I'm on 300 mins, unlimited texts (of which I use between 10-50 a month) and Blackberry unlimited for £15pm. I then bought the Bold 9700 which is 3g and like the 8900 is also wi-fi.

With the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) you are connected to your push email service all the time.

A lot depends what you want to do. For internet browsing the Blackberry is very poor, however it does everything else well especially emails which to me are more important than texts.

I just got a blackberry bold 9700 with 600 mins, 3000 texts, 500mb of data and a free phone for £27.50 from Phones 4U. The curve is worse than the bold for internet surfing as it doesnt support 3G, which makes it much faster.

Unless you downloading stuff (which i do with a wifi connection usually), you wont need more than 500 mb a month.
