    JC, what's panaculty? :o
  • I must admit, although I do plan for a few days in advance, sometimes I just like to stick my hand into one of the freezer drawers, select something and have a surprise meal.....

I need a slight element of surprise now and again, or I get bored.

I'd love to say it's a proper HM curry, but it isn't - I use curry paste from a jar (usually a rogan josh or madras-type) :o.

If you can get something like that in France (I have no idea if you can or not), then it's just chopped onions and garlic browned together, then add mince (beef or lamb, depending what I've got) and brown, add a blob of curry paste, some stock and simmer for a while (really technical timing, I know!). Then I add some new potatoes (whole ones at the moment as my HG ones are so weeny :)), cook until tender, then add some peas or chopped green beans and cook for a couple of minutes more.

It's quite simple, but really tasty. And I'm hungry now!:o:D

ETA - oops, forgot - I sometimes (but not always) add some chopped tomatoes along with the stock - either from a tin or, particularly at this time of year, fresh ones.

Thanks CCP - that's very do-able indeed (and I have a jar of curry paste in stock). I will give that a go one of these days, including tomatoes and green beans from the garden. I hadn't thought of combining both mince and potatoes in a curry! For some reason I always make either a meat/veg or a potato/veg curry, but I realise now that mince/potato might be the cottage pie combination of the curry world. My HG potatoes are enormous, so I'll cube them - this could well become a staple!
