£6 a hour - over min wage which i think is about £5.80ish (and no he's a very loooong way off 18.)
And don't worry about baking anything. Buy cheap biccies and tea. They'll shovel it in in a about thirty seconds so your effert will be wasted!!!You've obviously not met my OH then! The only reason he's willing to marry me is because I told him there'd be cake at the wedding
I haven't told him he's supposed to share it with the guests ... although maybe someone else has because he doesn't seem to want to invite anybody :rotfl:
Can't believe that pay is only just above minimum wage when they charge such high prices, i know it's overheads and the lorries and the maintenance but still...Anyway i have stocked up on cold drinks and biccies at Lidl today and I also got a ginger loaf and golden syrup cake on buy one get one free at Tesco, so they won't go hungy, hyper yes but hungry no...:D
Sonastin, yep i said my hubby is the exception, he likes his cake....More so since he met me apparently, apparently it's all my fault he's got bigger :rotfl: My mum said the same thing when i lived with her!0 -
We tipped ours...then later discovered they had nicked the money out of our children's piggy banks - only about £20 in each, but still despicable. They also broke things and hid the pieces, then the company denied it...not impressed.0

We've moved ourselves twice and used professionals twice... Both teams worked so damn hard, one move involved an overnight as we relocated. They were all friendly, cheerful and careful. Each time we provided choccy bikkies, sandwiches, homemade cake, endless tea/coffee, tins of soft drink on tap. It certainly made the moves go more smoothly and everyone was very kind to us, actually we all had quite a laugh. Yes, we did tip them as well; for the first move as I worked for a brewery/hotel chain at the time, I bought two cases of premium lager & beer from our staff shop that they could split between them, we also gave them £20 each. Second time, the overnight, we gave them £50 each (three men) as they'd also moved a large amount of special plants & garden paraphenalia with no damage. I honestly believe neither team was 'expecting' a tip at all, they all looked genuinely chuffed at the money & beers.0

I tipped mine £50 between 2 of them. I also started the day off by buying them and us bacon sandwiches and making them tea before they started loading. This went down very well and I'd definately recommend this. Then throughout the day provided plenty of tea and cans of soft drinks with kitkats etc. They did an excellent job and only 1 wine glass got broken (a cheapo Ikea one) so they more than deserved the tip. They also happily took a few bits of old furniture away I didn't want.
Out of all the various people you need to tip removal men definately deserve it.0 -
Hi NEH, whilst it is nice to tip removal guys at the end of a hard day's work, you don't have to if you can't afford it. Sometimes simple gestures are appreciated - you're already stocking up on refreshments, and if you can't tip them, perhaps give them a pack of beers each/or cheap bottle of plonk/box of choccies at the end? Shouldn't cost you more than a tenner to cover three people, and something is better than nothing?
Don't feel you have to tip, I certainly couldn't afford to tip 3 people £20 each at the present time, but would try my best to show my gratitude in some other token way
Good luck,
Az0 -
We didn't tip in the end as they turned out to be the company from hell depiste being many years in the business...
We've sustained damage to furniture and all sorts...Staff were rude including moaning and having a go at me because i forgot two tubs.
Even the guy they had to contract in from another firm was horrified at the way things were packed...0
