Phone Call from Graham White Solicitors

I have been following the advice on this forum since receiving a PCN in May this year. I have had all of the letters others have described, the last one from GW telling me if I didn't pay in 7 days I would be taken to court. Today I received a phone call from said soilicitor which I could kick myself for answering, having successfully ignored all of the letters. I was asked what I intended doing about the outstanding fine to which I replied - nothing.
Has anyone else been harrassed this way? Is this even legal??

If they phone again, write them a letter, telling them to communicate with you in writing only and then continue to ignore.

You will find templates for this on the debts boards.

How did they get your phone number though?
  • Listed unfortunately - thanks for the advice I'll do that.

If they phone again, ask if they are Roxburghe phoning as "GW". And let us know what they say.

    It's not Graham White - it's Roxburghe.

Ask them why they are pretending to someone they're not. Tell them you've seen their call logs on the internet.
  • Thanks everyone, I noted their number was with-held when I did 1471.

If they keep phoning, get your service provider to block withheld calls. You can do this temporarily until they give up calling.

  • they kept phoning me too, they got my number through data mining.
when they got me it was a surprise , i don't like surprises and i got quite nasty with them and told them not to ring again but they did. i had a lot of missed calls from them, i basically told them to go stuff themselves and never answered any questions because they didn't get chance to ask me any, not heard from them for a bit though.

they must have known that i was looking into reporting them to TSP as i told them on several occasions that i didn't want any calls from them.

Answer the phone, speak really quietly. Wait for them to turn the volume on their headset up really LOUD, and then blow a loud whistle down the phone as hard as you can.

It's Roxburghe on the phone, not a real Solicitor, as others have rightly said.

See how they pass themselves off as 'GW' on this pepipoo thread by Alexis:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=52809

Then when they call say 'so you are passing yourselves off as a Solicitor again are you?'

See what they say and tell them that you know they are just Roxburghe (a toothless debt collector) you've seen how they work and that they are logging this call as passing themselves off as 'GW' (use the initials wisely, as you can see from the above link that's how they log it). :D

Then tell them you will report them for harassment if they do not desist with all contact immediately as there is no debt:

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/en...=03_harassment

Finally, tell them 'the alleged debt is denied' so they are expressly forbidden to harass you again and must not contact you in any form. Tell them to send the file back to the originator since the debt is denied.

Or play musak at them, leave them dangling on the phone for half an hour, sing at them, rave like a mad person about Big Brother - whatever floats your boat.

    HTH :D
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
