If a phone call to a company was made (i.e. Direct Line) and the call was recorded, does the request for a transcript for the call fall under any act and is there a time scale?
I think it falls under something but not sure what!
TIA x

Hmmm, well after a quick google it could come under any one of these...
- Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 ("RIPA")
- Telecommunications (Lawful Business Practice)(Interception of Communications) Regulations 2000 ("LBP Regulations")
- Data Protection Act 1998
- Telecommunications (Data Protection and Privacy) Regulations 1999
- Human Rights Act 1998
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
It might fall under the Data Protection Act, since it's personal information about yourself

Are you wanting a copy of the call??0

If the call was recorded, then it falls under the DPA, surely?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Data Protection Act is the only one actually relevant.0 -

If you read the rest on Wikipedia, it highlights the word could but...

...have sorted out the grey area. Thought it would have been DPA.
Why do I want it? So I can listen to what insurance company say to my wife on the phone.
Locked my keys in the car (with baby in there too (it was nap time so she fell asleep but still a nightmare circumstance...and yes, I am a pillock)), said insurance company said "We can't help you, break a window", nice one.
Checked breakdown cover and it is covered so they're failed to provide a service I have paid for, poor customer service, poor advice and inconvinience caused. Just writing the complaint and wanted to quote something.

You can make a data subject access request in writing.
The company you are asking this from is entitled to charge up to £10 for this.
I believe they then have 40 calendar days to provide you with the data held in your caset the transcript of the call.
You say the phonecall was made by your wife?
If it was her on the phone and the policy is in her name she will need to make the request.0 -
So... did you break a window?0
