I didn't actually get that much done. The bathroom has been delayed by another day due to some communication problems between staff at shop. Fingers crossed it is delivered and work starts tomorrow. The completion is just edging closer to christmas! Much of the day was wasted waiting in for that and as they were going to liaise with dh I needed to speak to him before chasing it up. DH had prepared dinner for when we got back from swimming and I fell asleep afterwards and now can't get warm. I am struggling massively with my fatigue levels and don't see a solution. I'm taking iron, get lots of sleep and have a hugely helpful and supportive husband who goes above and beyond. 2 more working days then at least it is the weekend.
Would have been a NSD but spent £1 on raffle tickets at the christmas play, didn't win but I did get the change I need to give to a neighbour. Shame I forgot to post it through so couldn't cross it off my list. Will try again in the morning.
Going to make a hot chocolate to try and warm up and watch some tv with dh. Predict I'll be asleep by 9pm.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Well considering that was a job list for that particular day I still haven't done it all! Bathroom was delayed again for various reasons but work stared yesterday but we don't have a fully functioning toilet upstairs so I had a long walk at 3am! Tiles have arrived today and are lovely. Plumber coming tomorrow and tiler due Tuesday so fingers crossed it's all finished before the end of the week!
No idea how I managed to survive this week, the stress and workload in work has been maxed out and no one is winding down ready for Christmas! Next week looking much the same so looking forward to a few long weekend for a bit of a break. Have lots of shopping to do tomorrow as barely done any Christmas shopping.
Paid bathroom suite bill off credit card which has been helpful as it's meant are stoozing efforts see us interest free this month as the statement balance was less than the cost of suite and tiles.
Ordered some A4 canvas prints last week and they arrived today so going to buy some command strips tomorrow (think I saw they were on offer in B&Q and hang them in our family area tomorrow. They are 5 of our favourite photos from the last 5 years and are full of memories. We don't have many photos in frames so am looking forward to putting these up.
Car insurance direct debit not gone out so once the refund arrives I will cancel the dd and pay the amount off the cc to help offset paying for it in full. Fingers crossed this arrives before payday so I can get a bit of a headstart.
Think we have about £80 to last until payday which is fine for day to day expenses. I need to go to m&s for christmas eve pyjamas and have vouchers for that, am also sure i saw a sparks offer with money off them so will go and get them tomorrow.
This evening's plan is film and wine with dh. Early start tomorrow for haircut and plumber arriving so hoping the weekend will be productive.- sort out mobile phone renewal as they keep phoning me
- do food shopping
- take children to swimming lessons
- top up school lunch money

Well today has been a mix of productivity. I started the day with a haircut (only £14 as I just have a dry trim). Then I popped to charity shop and got an umbrella and a jigsaw for dd for Christmas, I do hope it's complete!! Went to nearby shop for some Christmas presents for the children, got some craft activites and a couple of games. Also bought a new Christmas decoration and two candles, £42 spent there and £6 at charity shop. Dh took d to see the new st@r wars film this afternoon but I couldn't get much done at home as the plumber was here again. No heating or water for much of the afternoon either but we now have a bathroom much further along. All tiles are off and the new bath and taps have been fitted. We were hoping that all of the pipework would be sunk but due to way it runs some will be boxed with a bit sticking out so hopefully it will look okay.. Plumber due back tomorrow or Monday, then tiler Tuesday. Hopefully electrician be there soon after then plumber can come back and finish off. I favour showers over baths but not having a functioning bathroom is really making me want baths!
Really could have done with a nap today but couldn't due to having workmen here so hoping I either have more energy tomorrow or an opportunity to nap! Booked childcare for a meal out we have planned so can now start to look forward to that.
Logging off now to watch a film with dh, hopefully catch up on here at some point tomorrow.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

That's why I'm trying to soak it all PP whilst I can. dd is 9 so not sure how much longer we have with her. We were in CP this time last year which definitely helped with the festive feeling!
dh has taken the chilren out so in that time I have been able to go to m&s for pyjamas and last minute gifts. Bought d 3 sets of pyjamas (I'll wrap 2 as presents and keep a pair for Christmas Eve.) Also got her a board game and the book Oliver (children's version). We've watched it recently and both of the children love it. The gifts were 50% and although the pyjamas were £23 the total bill wasn't too bad. Also bought some paddington chocolates and ham and total was just over £40 but had most of it on the voucher cards so only £11 to pay. That account switch offer has served its purpose so need to look at switching it now. I also collected a bundle of b@tman toys for ds and the estate wasn't the one I thought so ended up in one of the highest villages in our area, very gad I'd topped up fuel on the way! Also bought some command strips from h0mebase as wanted to hang some new canvas prints we have had made, they look fab and we finally have pictures on the walls! Came home and tidied a bit, cleaned shower room an hoovered and mopped downstairs. Also washed and dried a load of washing. Had a Christmas film on in the background and managed to stay awake for this one! :rotfl:
Still have all the presents to wrap and probably more to buy. We only buy immediate family so not sure how i'd manage with a huge list of people to buy for! I have a day off in the week this week so when dh finishes work we'll do any last minute shopping that we need to.
Now just relaxing with a hot drink and Jamie's Ultimate Christmas on the tv whilst I wait for dh and the children to get back.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Quick update whilst the children are at swimming, this is the one day I come home to an empty house. Plumber was here when I got home and bathroom is ready for tiling tomorrow. We always do work just before Christmas for some crazy reason! Am sure it will be transformed once tiling done and hopefully there isn't too much plumbing work to do after that.
£7.20 home insurance refund arrived so OP'd that along with 2p I found in a savings account. For some reason my spreadsheet didn't automatically update when I entered overpayment amount. Will check FD balance tomorrow on the app.
One more working day before a cheeky day off and payday for DH! Haven't finished shopping or even attempted any wrapping so it looks as though that will be the plan for Wednesday. Hope you're all a bit more organised than me.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hope your bathroom is finished in the next few days and you are remarkably doing house stuff so near to Xmas.
Enjoy your Xmas wrapping when you get a chance to do it. I wrapped up my kids Xmas Eve parcels today but still other presents to wrap and buy a few.0 -
Christmas wouldnt be Christmas in our house if we weren't wrapped, building toys or last minute gift...no matter how early we started! So now we resigned to the fact...Moneywise we'll be great, fine and on track but organisation wise... forget it! So all in all you're ahead of us.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

I'm hoping when I do start wrapping it won't be too mundane and I will enjoy it. A Christmas film and a glass of wine may help. Bathroom looks brilliant today, tiler has been here all day and almost finished the tiling. He's back tomorrow to finish off and grout. Hopefully electrician and plumber here soon after but certainly by the end of the week. It looks stunning even in its unfinished state! Even ds who is 6 was impressed.

I guess we need to take the small victories don't we! I will always remember dh assembling a dressing table, easel and littl3 tyk3s car one Christmas Eve for dd, it took ages!
Feeling fairly relaxed this evening, probably because I have a day off tomorrow and it's payday for dh (£500 more in his wages than budgeted). I've checked my payslip online and that's more than budgeted for too, not by much but still a welcome addition to the bank account.
75p on y0ugov since yesterday and a NSD today. Food shop is needed tomorrow and I'll try and get as much of the Christmas shop as possible. We don't go mad or buy things 'just because it's Christmas' (interestingly I was trying to get dd to understand that concept this week and I think she got it as was giving me examples this morning). It's like having an intelligent adult around for conversation sometimes with dd as she's wise beyond her years.
So what's tomorrow's plan?- for bathroom to be tiled and confirm when other trades are finishing off
- clean downstairs as much as possible
- do two loads of washing
- organise what we have bought for the children and start wrapping
- do some more Christmas shopping with dh after work
- do food shop
