Hi Cath
My last house took a year to sell. I had done all I could in terms of sprucing it up, reducing it etc. The thing that clinched it? I mentally gave up, decided to spend some savings earmarked for the move on a new car. As soon as I'd bought the car, my house sold!Mortgage Dec 2015 - £21545 Apr 2016 - £19930

Oh dear, hope it's an easy fix with the washing machine... Problem if it's out of warranty is that they usually charge a small fortune to come out and take a look and there's no guarantees that they will be able to fix... on top of that is the fact that any parts required may need to be ordered and then you're left without a machine for however long it may take....
It's totally un money saving, but we usually end up buying a new one too. (eeek!!!!!)0 -
WIll be back later to answer all posts.

Ok here goes.... <refills wine glass>
We have decided to stay.
We looked at our sketches again and also the plans we were given by the previous vendors. My biggest concerns have been upsetting the neighbours. However, we came up with two ideas. Option 1 (create 4 beds with ensuite) was ideal but risked upsetting neighbour, option 2 we would still do but wouldn't be best idea! (create 3 good beds plus ensuite or 4 beds without).
So, due to me being impatient and needing to know what's what, DH went to speak to said neighbour who said he would not object :j I even did some sums and if we borrowed 30k and increased mortgage payments by £160 (this is do-able) we would finish mortgage in existing term. I really am comfortable with this idea, we will have 4 beds with ensuite, playroom, big hallway and utility for a fraction of a new build. I love where we live so we will just have to have the nicest house on the estate
I have definitely felt more positive today and am so much happier. I will ring architects on Monday and get the ball rolling. I just need to do some sums as we need around £1000 to get to the stage of getting in quotes. Have already applied for additional borrowing ready for moving so that side is also sorted. If things go to plan we could be doing this by Easter!!! :j:j:j
WM disaster sorted, typical for me this had to be addressed immediately! :rotfl:A friend was selling one so £70 later (my mum put this in my account!) the WM was picked up and connected by DH by this afternoon.
We are having a rare Saturday night on the vino (I fell asleep after one glass last night!) as I feel it's a mini-celebration.
Not all brilliant, rainy weather = 3rd weekend stuck in. My children are wild!!!!! :eek:June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
