Woohoo, another day off has arrived! Am off work until Tuesday afternoon now and I need it. Had another hypo today -grrrrrr.
Got excited to see an invite to a GTM survey (only need 10 points - I got screened out!)
We have a dilemma. DH has applied for a great job and has been offered an okay job but the hours are great (mon-thurs 6am-3pm) and then a weekend shift if he wants it. Provided he gets a decent hourly rate it will match his current wage and this place is 1 mile from out house whereas he currently makes a 36 mile round trip daily (big petrol savings there). Downside is having to work over Christmas. I do get frustrated by him wanting to change jobs all the time but trying to make the best out of a bad situation. I am the breadwinner and wish I could work more hours but 30 is enough for me at the moment! Am wondering whether we should hold off making any decisions until we find out if he has an interview for the job he applied for and wants (I also don't know if this one involves working at Christmas)
Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and that it stays for a while!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Sunshine is here because I am back from our suffolk hols dodging the rain lol, but at least I can dry all my washing!
Its a tough one with the job situation, I have been umming and arring about changing jobs, but sometimes its better to stay where you know and they are good to me with the kids situ. I think its better to work where you feel happier.
I have really slipped on the surveys, they are so time consuming, I did keep up onepoll for a while and toluna and then other things got in the way. It is good to get the money/vouchers after all the hard work though.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

I have just reached £40 on Onepoll! That has to be the hardest money I have ever earned but I'm so glad I finally got there!!
Well done. It is deflating though when you start again at the bottom lol. I have done one lot and am at about £25 now, I just keep plodding on with it when I can be bothered which is about once a week lol, I used to check it 3 or 4 times a day.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

It's hardgoing when you have to start back at £0 and the motivation isn't quite the same! I am more motivated to find 10 points on GTM! I think I am going to trawl through my diary to see exactly what I have made from survey sites this year.
Have ordered DD's 3rd birthday present (a trampoline from toys r us, 20% discount code used and 3% cashback through TCB). It is meant to be a bribe so she starts sleeping through the night which I'm hoping she does before it arrives! As her birthday is end of September we tend to get her stuff early so she can use it through the Summer, last year she had play house etc.
Joiner is coming tomorrow to repair the cot and alter the door so I'm hoping the work isn't too time consuming and expensive.
Have listed a DVD box set on Amazon so be very nice if that sells along with the other one that's on there!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hi Cath, intersting diary. Subscribed to your threat cos I'd love to see your progress! I have not started me MFW quest yet as I have just started to attack the debt!
Looking forward to keeping up with your journey!!!0 -
Thanks expressmart, I'm not completely debt free but still a MFW. I have about £2k on 0% cards but pay them off alongside the mortgage overpayments. You could still start?
Have cancelled a few direct debits this morning saving myself £12 a month. I feel bad doing so but I am not in the position to give money away at the moment.
Also done a quick revised SOA and we have just under £500 surplus a month for OP's, CC repayments and savings. Where does it all go? I am already counting down the days to payday 19th August!!! (have money in food account but not much in current!)
I'm not sure how much my maternity pay is going to be but hopefully increased TC will make up some of the shortfall.
DH is meeting with manager of job offer (this isn't the job he has applied for, has just happened!!) tomorrow morning to discuss pay. I really don't know what the best option is for us. All this job switching has prompted me to dig out some of DH's pension paperwork. I think he has one personal pension (we pay monthly into this), 2 previous occupational pensions and then a 4th with his current job!
Also found my student loan statement from last year and it's dated July so I'll be interested to know if it has actually reduced since I have been paying it back! I doubt my repayments have covered the interest though!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
ExpressMart I am a MFW despite OH having debt.
Cath I hide pressies in the loft, warrobes, drawers under bed, car boot, inlaws loft and basically anywhere I can.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
Good to see you here LilacPixie, I will have to get creative with hiding spaces but will certainly pinch a few of those ideas.
Joiner has been and fixed the cot, was here about an hour and I paid £30. Perhaps DH could retrain as a joiner! :rotfl:That was just for the cot repair too as changing the door isn't feasible because of the design of the architrave. There is obviously a lot more to wood than I thought! Only problem is I don't think we can raise the bottom of the cot now???
DD and I decided to make Froggy's quiche, was going so well until her mixing got a bit enthusiastic and the bowl and ingredients went flying onto the floor! She was most upset and I don't think me being less than impressed pleased her! She is sleeping now and I have a second quiche in the oven!
Grateful the clothes arrived and are wonderful thank you. DD was also impressed with hers.
Post Office CC still not arrived for me to be able to put in claim for missing cashback.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
