I am about to apply for an Amex Platinum Card and was looking for extra incentives...
I received today my usual lastminute.com e-mail newsletter with their usual offerings including an offer for £15 money off voucher if I apply for the Amex Platinum Credit Card through them...
I have seen mentioned on this thread £15 if you apply via greasypalm
And quidco who I am registered with are offering £25.00 for each successful Amex application.
So, I'm applying via Quidco!
Are there any offer deals out there...?0 -

I got given a £4000 limit by default when I applied. You can always ring up when you have the card and see if you can negotiate higher. They often ask if I want to increase the limit.0 -
I'm having a bit of a issue! I made a debit card payment to amex to pay of my blue card but it's went on the account twice and only left my account once! Should i ring up and tell them about the error or just take the money and run?!:santa2:0

You could check with Amex to find out what they have done. Maybe the second amount hasn't reached your debit card yet? If you take the money and run, be aware if Amex later discover the error they can come after you for it back (although there is a time limit - not sure what it is though)!!0

I applied for the Amex Blue card last month to take advantage of the 2% cashback offer. I got my card a few days ago and just called customer services to confirm it, but they've told me I get double cashback (ie 1% on spending less than £2,000) and not 2% as the site orginally said. The woman on customer services wouldn't accept that I'd applied for a different offer, ie 2% on everything for three months.0

thats unusual i've had my card just over 2 months and im getting 2%??:santa2:0

I've noticed that the Amex website now says double cashback instead of 2% cashback. It looks like they've recently reduced the offer. When I applied it definitely said 2% though, so I'm not sure what to do.0

Hi,
Searching the thread I have noticed people who have upgraded from Blue to Platinum. However I am none the wiser as to what happens to your Blue card and moneyback points.
Could someone who has done so clarify what happens to your Blue card and Moneyback points please?
I have been offered an upgrade (by letter) and phoned Amex to ask if I would lose my points if I upgraded. They said the Platinum card would be a new card and my points would remain on the Blue card and the Blue card would not be cancelled.
This seems a bit odd if the card is an upgrade from one to the other.
So what happens if you upgrade your card? Do you end up with both Blue and Platinum or just the Platinum?
And of course most importantly - what happens to the moneyback points?
Thanks,
Dave0 -
In my experience, you end up with two amex cards. One blue, one platinum. You can transfer your balance and credit limit between the two but not (AFAIK) any moneyback points. When I asked Amex, they said it wasn't actually an upgrade. You basically apply for another amex card. The trick is apply for the platinum so you have it in time for your blue anniversary (mine took 1 week to come through). Check your blue card online and when you see the moneyback reward on your account, stop using the blue and start using the platinum. Phone amex to close the blue and transfer the credit limit across to the platinum (ie add it on). Any residual balance on the blue will be collected by the direct debit (or maybe BT it to the platinum - check for charges first).0
