I'd say mag subscriptions too, my DF reads a lot of computer/web type magazines, also design mags and he buys so many he can't afford them all of the time, they aren't cheap.
Men aren't the easiest of folk to buy for at the best of times are they?
My DF is into a couple of US comic strips that he reads online and I managed to find one of them in a range of books on Amazon, so have bought a couple of those. Also I usually buy him dvd's tv programmes or any movies he's liked.

Also as I do a fair bit of crafting/papercraft I am hoping to make him a framed picture that relates to one of the above comic strips that is a lot like him right now.. so will use some of the strips alongside photographs of him too.. if I get time that is.. it's an idea anyway.

Does this male have any children? You could make up a little scrap/brag book with photographs in, or even of himself or trips he's been on recently/holidays?
Does he write? Buy him a book to journal in, if he's into that kind of thing?

Rather sadly I have to say I really prefer a voucher (or even better the cash) as that way I can get something for myself spontaneously. Sometimes I’ve given money for spending in the sales rather than to blow it on something for full price.:o

Honestly though, if money is an issue and it is a birthday I like:

A hot bath with candles and some relaxing music
    A massage
A wonderful home cooked meal on a nicely laid out table with a little wine
    A good dessert
    Complete relaxation is in order.

If you have any Tesco clubcard vouchers you could also do (if you have enough) A river cruise:D (in London) or a trip to Paris!:D

But I still like the relaxing time.:D

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!

Everyone has interests, some are just harder to see then others!!

Maybe something that you think he'd find interesting or used to enjoy doing?

  • Sorry should have added, have a few males to buy for, real problem is DD's boyfriend.
He doesn't drink, he downloads all his music so can't do cd's, he doesn't read.
He has more smelly stuff than you can shake a stick at, he doesn't wear any jewellery. He doesn't watch much tv. He does like computers though, so will try and think of something techie, and cheap, or even a voucher for online shop if that's a possibility. Any other ideas along the computer line would be great.

Another is hubby, and although he is into golf, he really does have everything for that - apart from one of those motorized cart things - and he ain't getting that. Like the drinks suggestion, he is rather fond of Southern Comfort. Like the idea of a wee holiday - might suggest a weekend break for the two of us, think we would both really like that, all depending on finances.

My Dad. He really does have everything! Am fed up getting him wine, although I know he does appreciate it, it just is getting a bit boring. He does read, but only when he is on holiday???? He plays golf and bowls, but again has everything he needs and more for both - and he has one of those motorized cart thingies too.

Thanks for all the suggestions, given me some inspiration........really appreciate the help. :A

Vouchers for online music site he uses?? Ask DD to get some ideas for him. That's always my job for my Mum is to find out what OH wants for Chrissy or Birthday!!

How about a wine course for Dad, or wine tasting experience, there is one in London but can't think of the name off the top of my head

    A family photo for Dad??
