With due respect it's all very well being patronising. The point is Wentworth do act illegally. They will tell potential clients (myself included) that card details are "required for verification purposes only" and that "no monies will be taken unless and untill a loan is arranged". They will also state they "have lenders ready" to provide the requested loan at an APR of (again in my case) 15.2%. They took monies from my account even though I confirmed that NO MONIES would be taken and the only lender they forwarded had an APR of 59%.
You are correct with your quotes from their terms and conditions however, Wentworth Direct act in a fraudulent and dishonest manner. This being the case no "contract" exists as, a contract can only be legally binding when all information forwarded is entirely truthful and accurate. These are qualifications which are alien to Wentworth.
I have received my monies back and didn't go through all the long winded methods of phone calls etc. A simple letter requesting a refund as I no longer required the loan was sufficient. The person at the other end couldn't care less what your opinions or thoughts are re:Wentworth so don't waste your time. Always remember the old rule when letter writing; KEEP IT SHORT AND SIMPLE or, keep it simple stupid.
On a wider point, this subject provides clear evidence as to the toothless response from the varius agencies who are supposed to police these companies.0 -
Same,
£69 quid fee, promised a loan at a staggering 6.8 % APR which I was well up for, said I'd been accepted only to find that the actual loan was in fact offered at a rate of around 75% APR - it was verabelly confirmed I had been accepted at the first rate, so I paid my 69 quid as even then it was a good rate. Have written demanding money back and threatened legal action but didnt do it recorded so can see that tomorrow I will have to do again recorded this time! F**KERS, why can this be legal? Answer - it cant.0 -

All the information is in the very thread you have posted on (it's up there ^^^).
Just write the them stating you wish to cancel the application and receive a full refund in accordance with their Terms and Conditions.
I'll give you a pointer.....Wentworth Direct Finance, FREEPOST SEA9712, Gravesend, Kent, DA13 0BR, UK.For our services there is a brokers fee of £69.00 charged which is payable by you the client for the use of our services as a broker. This is charged as an up front fee.Under Financial Services (Distance Marketing) Regulations 2004 you have a right to cancel your application within 14 days of receiving these terms and conditions and receive repayment of the fee. If you wish to cancel your application, you must write to Wentworth Direct Finance notifying us. In this event the amount will be returned within 30 days of the date on which we receive your written request to cancel your application. You the client may also, at any time, within six months cancel the agreement if you so wish, in this event the brokers fee will be refunded to you within a reasonable time, not exceeding 30 days, from the date of cancellation in writing, minus a £5 admin charge.
EDIT: I agree with Sharpy, don't start ranting and raving illegal this and stealing that. Just be polite but to the point. It doesn't have to be a thesis on the business model of loan brokers.
Put your address at the top, your reference number in bold letters before the content and a simple single paragraph as I wrote earlier.
Quote the part of the T&C's you are claiming under if it make you feel better (the bit I quoted above).
