And do tell us of these removal firms who charge less to move on a different day - all the ones I know charge exactly the same price irrespective of what day you're moving. After all, petrol costs the same all weeek long!

So what in your opinion makes it EASIER to move on a diferent weekday? And do tell us of these removal firms who charge less to move on a different day - all the ones I know charge exactly the same price irrespective of what day you're moving. After all, petrol costs the same all weeek long!
My point is that everyone wants a Friday move so I avoid that. It typically means that it's easier to get removal people as most are booked up on a Friday and, unlike you, I manage to get reduced rates for not moving on a Friday.0 -
Oh, now https://www.fridaysmove.com makes sense lol0

Completion usually happens on a Friday because this is when most solicitors disappear to play golf, thereby maximizing the complications, stress and anguish inflicted on the house-buying public.0

I never complete on a Friday as it's easier (and often cheaper) to get removal companies during the week.
Our fees arent cheaper to move during the week ( after all our costs are the same no matter what day ! ) , , and we have noticed over the last few years that Friday is no longer the most popular day .Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

As I said in a previous post its no longer the case that Friday is the most popular day , and tbh I am not aware of any of our competitors charging less? ............although maybe the smaller ones do?Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
I figured we got it cheaper on a Monday because it was the least popular day. A bit like a hotel having the same fixed costs but having days when the rooms are harder to let.

We completed on a Monday, so we could move out over the weekend before. That only really happened like that because we'd only got back from a month's holiday the previous Wednesday!0

Hi,
I personally have always avoided Fridays. You do run the risk (if in a chain) of not everyone's money coming down the chain and not actually being able to complete (happened to my sister in law) - she had to wait the whole weekend with all her worldly posessions in a lorry taken to storage - and then finally got to move on the Monday.
Threre is no financial benefit of moving on another day -so all the removal companies we have had quotes from say.0 -
We completed on a Monday, had damp proofing and timber treatment done during the week and moved ourselves in on the Friday to Sunday. (we did not sell old house and spent the time between moving to decorate and get letting agents in also)0
