  • if you prepare to take the risk you will prob get away with it ,as you do your own check in ,I have put my mrs name down wrong for 6 trips and never been stopped we only realised this year ,i put Lizzy instead of elizabeth ,but never been stopped,so it does depend who checks your slip,

because you only have a print out on a a4 peice of paper ,just hand that over ,then hand passport after ,they will check passport and say carry on

BUT THATS THE RISK YOU TAKE !If NOT CHANGE THEM SO YOUR NOT WORRYING.
  • I had a very similar problem when I booked some (very expensive) long distance flights and entered my forename wrongly "Alex" rather than the full name.

After a LOT of hair-pulling I took radical action and changed my name and applied for a passport in the new name.

Particularly if you're using the common variant of your longer name it makes sense. You've got the cost of the passport, but it may work out cheaper all in all.

    True story :)
  • Passenger Details - All passenger names must match those in the passport/accepted travel document (Ryanair booking, just above where you put your name in)

I Think that the best tip is Always READ WHAT IT SAYS ON THE SCREEN
  • Hi Matt

I did the same thing once- I booked for my dad under 'Frank' when it is Francis on his passport. What I did was get the customer service number for Ryanair by calling up BAA (Ryanair does not advertise this number on their website) and explained the situation to the very nice lady on the end of the phone. She then changed it for me free of charge as she said that the names were so similar. If I had been changing it from Frank to John then I would've been charged £40. So try it!

Did exactly the same myself, called Ryanair and they just stamped my boarding pass. Not a problem at all and no fee involved.
  • My hubby JUST (30 mins ago) booked a return flight for our first wedding anniversary with EasyJet...then to notice that he put down the wrong title for me! "Mr" instead of "Mrs"! To change names with EasyJet is £30 each time - that's £60 we can't afford. He's trying to get through right now to ask them to change it...but it's taking forever, and they just hung up on him saying they aren't allowed to continue the call?!? Weird customer service. He's trying again. Anyway, we can cancel the flight within the 24 hour 'cooling off' period, but funnily enough, there's a £60 cancellation fee too.

Does anyone know how fussy the gate staff would be about something like that?

What should we do? Cough up? Hope the gate staff don't make a fuss about it? I'm afraid it's quite obvious I'm a lady!

So long as the name on the booking matches the name on your passport, I doubt if you will have that much of a problem.

Not sure if it says titles must match.

Titles don't appear on your passport, so that wouldn't be an issue.

The only answer is never to book or travel with Ryanair. Their customer service is non-existent, their staff are rude and their real fares, not the rubbish quoted in adverts, are ALWAYS more expensive than easyJet to the same airport, or mostly in Ryanair's case the airport designated for the destination, Barcelona for example is Girona and is over an hour's travel. Why does anyone fly with this excuse for an airline? There must be millions of masochists in Europe!

Ryanair actually fly to El Prat , the "proper" Barcelona airport too.

Do you think any other airline would allow you to board with the wrong name on your booking ?
