  • 1. Sensible people bid at the last minute
    2. Your 23 watchers are not necessarily interested in buying

23 people have the same item and are watching your listing to see if its worth selling.
I never count watchers as buyers, neither do I let it bother me.I have loads of watchers on items that never got any bids. I also never try to guess what the final bidding or selling price will be, as I am always wrong. You are lucky you have one bid so your item will sell, usually their is tons of watchers and no bids . Just forget about the watcher numbers there are millions of reasons people can be watching an item, its only the final selling price your intereasted in and that you cant judge.

Often there'll be a flurry in the last few minutes. Some of those watchers may be competitors monitoring what your items go for so they can price theirs accordingly.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
  • Hopefully not. its quit a rare item and i have a couple more to sell.

  • Not that rare then :)

I only ever place bids in the last 30 to 60 seconds before an auction ends. I like to see any interest up to then, and I don't see the point of showing your hand before then (you may end up paying more).

I watched one of my auctions (a book), go from £2 to £28 in the last 30 seconds.

Have you posted the link on other sites you use, I have learned not to do that as people I know just be nosey grrr!!

I also bid in the last 24 hours max, but don't add to watch list if I am not interested in the item and remove it from the list if it goes over what I am willing to pay.
One day I might be more organised...........

I wouldn't describe it as a problem at all. Hopefully it's a sign of future bidding activity.
When buying I never bid until the last minute so why should I expect others to when selling?
I currently have a faulty car going cheap on eBay. Closes tomorrow and I've had three bidders. However, my 32 watchers hopefully mean it's going to go for a bit more than the current amount!
    Can I help?
  • my things never really seem to get bids or go up high till the last day, its just the way it goes sometimes, i dont bid till the end as you can often get it cheaper

  • Lordexavier the 2nd, I'm curious now - has your auction finished yet, and did it go OK?
As has been mentioned, most bidding activity occurs towards the end of auctions. I know a lot of people watch auctions on which they don't plan to bid, and I try not to count my chickens prematurely, but if I had 23 watchers I'd tend to be reasonably confident of more than one bid. On the few occasions I've had 20+ watchers on an item, it's gone for a satisfactory price in the end, although some bidders have waited till the last minute. I've had several items with about 6 or 7 watchers finishing with only 1 bid though.
