It's taking Bluelagoon a long time to get his info together, isn't it?0

Maybe now Bluelagoon and the rest of perkys trolls who wander round the net spewing their trash to all and sundry will disappear.0

Today I recieved a letter from a company saying I owe a private car park £158 for non payment of a car park charge in April.
I did stop at the car park on a jetty in Exmouth to do some fishing, and was waiting for the person to come around as often does collecting money as no payment machine, but there is a fish shop where you can pay.
On my way back to my car, a man approached me saying he has my number and will be getting a ticket for £75 thru the post, or pay £50 now.
Then he walked away.
No ticket on the day was given to me or any cameras was used to say my car was there.
Now the letter says i have 7 days to pay up the money or bailiffs will be informed.
On examination of the letter they have the wrong car reg on it?
do I have to pay this fine as no letter was given to me or any pics was used to say who was driving, and the wrong reg on the letter.
Have had a look at the signs at the car park, and only says non payment cars will be wheel clamped with a release fee of £75.
Thanks in hoping you can shed some light on this.0 -
I'm just wondering how the letter got to you if they have the wrong reg on the letter. They must actually have your correct reg noted down somewhere.
In your opinion is it patrolled by a regulated parking company or someone out on the make? Clampers have to be regulated now I believe.0 -
davejack711 - Don't pay a single penny. Like the posts above illustrate, these companies have no legal basis. Don't listen to their threat about bailiffs, that is nonsense. Only a court can send bailiffs. Put the letters in the bin and eventually they will go away.0

Typical private car park companies' blustering again. Pretending they're some sort of authority. It's an invoice not a fine. Ignore them. They can't send bailiffs around and the fact they actually say that makes them even more likely to be all talk."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Just wanted to say I read about 15 pages of this thread and it's been really interesting!
Definitely wouldn't have known that these people have no legal legs to stand on with their fines, and also surprising about their debt collectors having no power at all too.
Great work and information to you all!0 -
I've been reading through this thread, and just wanted to let you know about how I dealt with a similar situation.
I had parked in a Retail Park and visited a couple of shops there, I then left the retail park for a short time. When I returned to my car I had a ticket saying that I had 'breached patron parking' and that I was to pay £60 rising to £80 after two weeks.
I decided to write to the company who issued the ticket to ask them what exactly they were fining me for and what evidence they had to support their claim. I also stated that I was appealing the fine.
In addition to this, I wrote to the shops on the retail park. I told them that I was very disappointed that I'd been a customer for many years and over time spent hundreds of pounds in their stores, only to be repaid in such a way. I told them that I wouldn't be returning nor would I recommend them to others.
I'm not quite sure which letter did the trick, but a couple of weeks later I was informed that they were no longer going to pursue the charge.0 -

You actually appear to have done a very silly thing, you should not contact them. But if you feel compelled to do so you should always identify yourself as the registered keeper of the vehicle and never EVER say you were the driver or imply that you were the driver. ALWAYS use the third person.0
