The memory foam is fine... it was the existing foam cushions in the trailer tent which were too hard, and once we put the memory foam on it's lovely and comfy. The only problem is that my OH is now too hot. Based on this expererience I wouldn't want one any deeper than 5cm as I think you would sink too deep and get even warmer (which is basically what Tim advises).

We only had it cut into two pieces ( a horizontal cut at about knee level) because of the way the trailer tent folds up and how the memory foam needs to be stored whilst folded/ towing . I only mentioned this to give an example of how helpful the firm were.
