go into network connections and check the wireless is disabled or enabled.0

On my laptop recently I had the same problem and it turned out to be that the wireless card inside the machine had gone caput. I managed to get a replacement and now it works fine.0

The wireless adaptor isn't anywhere in device manager. Network adapters say bluetooth is working is that the same???
Sounds to me like the wireless card is either dead, or loose in it's socket. Depending on the make and model of the laptop and assuming the wireless is built in rather than a USB device, there might be a removable door on the bottom of the laptop that will give you access to a mini-PCI slot where you wireless card might be installed - My old works IBM Thinkpad had one for example, but on my Acer it's a separate board that needs the whole shell taking off. If you are lucky it might be worth popping it off and making sure the card is seated properly - with the laptop turned off of course.0 -

We have or DH has checked all the connection and it appears to be the wireless card has died. It is an HP pavillion tx1000 and the wireless card is under a flap. Is it possible to replace this myself or will it need to be done by someone who knows what to do?0
