uswitch broadband comparison usless!

Thought I'd try uswitch to compare lastest prices with my current supplier. It could suggest one supplier in my area!

Most of them serve my area, if not at the top speed, as a pretty good one.

Don't rely on this part of the site. It's now where near up to the standard of thier Gas/Electricity comparision site.

i wouldn't really use uswitch anyway, since it is not a true representation of the broadband market - since providers have to pay something like £20-30 per user that uswitch generates them... considering that there is a lot of price competition at the moment, this means that their margins are low, meaning that the provider may not be able to afford to be listed
  • The thing with broadband is its usually tied in with other services, its easy for uswitch to ask what you pay for gas now and compare all other gas suppliers for a direct comparison.

Broadband suppliers usually tie in other things as well, eg NTL supply Broadband, TV and phone packages together. Virgin are doing a great deal combining the mobile phone and broadband. Talk Talk are combining your BT line rental, all calls and broadband in one package.

Beacuse all of them are supplying different things a straight comparison is nigh on impossible. The best thing to do is look at all the options yourself and weigh up which is most advantageous to you.

For example, if you dont watch much TV an all in one package from NTL might not be what you need. If you gas a lot on your landline the Talk Talk deal is good, if you use your mobile on pay as you go or contract at about £15 pcm then the Virgin offer is a good one for you.
