My biggest issue is adjusting the Sub volume as ive made it a major task to get to, I was going to get a glass stand originally, but theres so much wires and scarts I decided to opt for the lazy method of "hide em behind the telly unit". Of course if your gonna put it behind your sofa, be sure you have enough wiring to cover it. And I see your point about spilling the wine, the cost of wine nowadays. use a Sippicup ;)

I have mine behind a leather chair from a 3 piece suit and its fine, subwoofers arent that important where you locate them as lonmg as the other speakers are positioned, middle, 2 front, 2 rear etc it should be fine.
  • The only thing is dont put your speakers in corners the corner can cause the sound to boom slightly but on the other side it an help create a wider field of sound for the rear speakers. I have bipolar rears they have 2 drivers and they point in 2 directions I have 1 to the centre of the room and the other hits a wall before going in to the room it creates a nice effect.

The boom effect isnt what you want from the sub the frequency should be low and make you feel the effects rather than hear them as long as you get the thing set correctly the level where the sub kicks in isnt too high I wouldnt want it active all the time so about 75-85Hz is where mine is at my speakers are set to go low but not all the way down to 20hz where my sub goes.

My sub sits to the left of the fireplace, left frnot of my viewing position but it doesnt really matter.

Well it's all wired up, sounds OK, I know it needs tuning up etc but I haven't a clue so I have asked one of my colleagues to pop round to help me sort it next week. That's one of the advantages of working with techies LOL

sometimes putting a base speaker reverse side so that it points to the wall in a corner can produce a much deeper sound
