I'm still with Click Energy. My online account works now, so I might finally be getting the advantage I'm supposed to have with it.

The handover process from NPower was a mess and it took about 8 phone calls before I finally found someone who seemed to care and managed to sort most of my problems.

Re the meter readings, I found that one of the numbers is the Indian call centre and they had my meter readings although none of the UK staff had any meter readings for me. I can't remember which number it was - I tried all of them IIRC.

I've cancelled my direct debit mandate twice because they set it stupidly high and never changed it despite telling me that they would.

The latest "entertainment" is that Click Energy decides what acceptable meter readings are regardless of the what the real readings are, so I log on every day and enter the maximum value it will accept to try and catch up with my real readings.

I'm considering moving; I don't care if it costs me £5 extra per month as long as I can make one call and see some action.

I've been with this lot for 11 months. Still no bill. The say Scottish power haven't provided reading. SP say they have. I'm paying £50 a month DD, so I am probably covered. But no action on this in months, so not sure how to proceed as I want to move to another company in April. Can I do this anyway? try cancelling DD? Energywatch looks tempting. I can't handle phoning anymore, they never return calls. And don't reply to emails ever. Any suggestions?

  • What would be the situation if I decided to switch next time the 'switch now' came up?

Would it spur them to supply me a bill.. or would it make it much harder to get any kind of figures out of them? For all I know, they could owe me money!
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • Good luck with getting away from British Gas - it took me nearly 8 months and I had to involve EnergyWatch in the end. The most outrageous trick was when BG told me that I had never applied to switch - this was 5 months after sending all the documents to switch - and the letter they sent telling me this had a completely different customer number from my usual one!

I will never ever go back to BG again if it is the last energy company left in England - but I still keep getting calls from their call centre asking me if I want to return  I have told 7 (yes, 7!) different call centre people that I would rather stick pins in my eyes while eating hot coals, and to please take me off their list and never bother me ever again.... but after another few months I get yet another call to invite me back  . No wonder they have had to increase their bills so much - they are paying for phoning all their escaped (and no intention of returning) customers!

Sorry for the rant, but I HATE British Gas - I hope you manage to escape their clutches soon.

Oh my gods! How awful is that? I had problems with ntl: getting them to sort out my TV, phone and Internet and in the end I just filed a legal claim under the Sale of Goods Act and the Supply of Goods and Services Act. It states that a supplier must provide goods or services to a reasonable standard, within a reasonable time and for a reasonable cost. "Reasonable" is determined by the court. The County Court accepted my claim and I'm waiting to hear back from ntl: now. Doubtless they will pay as I've had continuing problems since August!!

I think you should consider doing the same now as nothing about what you've been through is "reasonable" by any standards!! It will certainly get them to sort out their problems double-quick as their patheticness just won't wash with the Court!

It will certainly show them you mean business anyway and you're not some stupid push-over consumer!

Today brought a call from BG! 'Sorry it's taken so long to sort out. Your start reading has been stuck somewhere between your old supplier and us, but we've identified the problem now. It should be sorted in the next two weeks.'

'Do you have any idea what my balance is?'

'No, but if it turns out that you haven't been paying enough, you can spread the payments'

    Gee, that's a load off!

Wonder if my email to Energywatch two days ago helped?

If its any consolation am still waiting for my £70 compo, they called the other day to tell me everything with the switch was going according to plan and I seem to have found a lady who actually cares and keeps in touch. Asked her about the cheque and she said it can take upto 21 days - might send them a red reminder next week !!!!!!

  • Goto a comparison site, put in your supplier and see who's best. Then put in swalec as the supplier, see the results. If I'm not wrong, they'll probably be red and negative. Nuff said
