I reported an iPhone lost which i thought i lost during a house move. 2 months later after claiming a new handset off my mobile phone insurance, I have found the iPhone
Do I call the insurance company to say i found it or just simply throw it away? Its not like i can use it or I need to use it

sell it, u already made a claim... however is the imei blocked?!0

You wouldn't be able to use it as they will have blocked the phone when you reported it lost. You could inform your insurance company, that's what they will expect you to do in the event of finding it. They will probably ask you to send it to them or they might unblock it and ask you to return the replacement phone. Either way i'm guessing they'll want one of them back. But the honest thing to do would be to inform them that it has now been found.0

chuckley- i dont know if the imei was blocked or not, i dont think i could sell it if it was blocked though
pipsi- yes you're right, it would be the best thing to do, i just do not want to be down for fraud or something, i only just found it so i would have to wait until tomorrow to report it anyway!
thanks guys!'Sometimes you just need to keep your mouth shut':j0 -
Definately don't just throw it away as it will still function as an ipod touch. You would need a mifi to use it away from a wifi hotspot though. I expect it will still function as a phone outside the UK. Also check with the insurer as they might want it as salvage.0

It's not your phone now, it's the Insurance Company's. Let them know you've found it and take it from there.0

I agree with Gordikin here; you made a claim and under the terms of the policy, the phone now belongs to the insurance company. Give them a call and arrange for it to be sent to them. They should either send you an envelope, arrange collection or pay you the postage.
If you want to keep the phone, your best bet is to phone the insurance company and ask them whether you can "buy" it from them for the amount they would receive from their salvage company. You should then be able to get the imei unblocked by contacting your network or Apple (if the insurance company don't or can't do this for you) and either sell the phone or give it away to a friend/family member. You would receive more by selling the phone unblocked that it cost you to buy it back from the insurer. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0
