• hi again people

well i didnt pay the £35 and im sorry for those of you who did i think its absolutley shocking what their getting away with.

i didnt get asked for my passport number or anything,it was tuesday i recieved the email telling me to pay the £35 at paypoint and it didnt give me the option to pay any other way.luckily i didnt then yesterday i got the same email as mentioned above about payment problems and to request a refund. very dodgy.

also ive just had another look at their website and on it they state that it costs £20 to have a thousand leaflets delivered and in the email i got saying "i had the job" it said they would pay me £50 to deliver a thousand flyers and i would be paid in advance by the driver who delivered my flyers etc before i had even delivered anything  thats what made me suspicious in the first place.

if i had have paid the money i think i would be calling the police,i mean how many people are going to have paid it in the hope of getting a job.
• Thanks for the further info guys, which branch of the police should we be calling and any further suggestions as to what to do with their 'refund' policy, is it advisable you think to just accept that we've lost our money?

I had another email back from them earlier this afternoon, thought it would be worth while posting..
Clear Pay is our payment processor.

We are trying our hardest to rectify the mistake, but it could take up to 28
days.

If you want a refund, I'd advise you to request a cheque - then it can be
posted to you without having to hand over any details to anyone.

Otherwise the money will go more than likely be kept by the payment
processor.

Regards

Is this a scam? Who knows - doesn't seem all kosher!

But they were kind enough to tell you exactly how to recover your money back. We should all be grateful for that!
PAYMENT PROBLEMS: Refund Request!

Due to a security problem with our payment processor, recent PayPoint payments made by customers have been frozen.

Don't worry; your money is still safe!

However, we advise you to request a refund immediately from our merchant as it may be some time before the matter is resolved at our end.

You'll need to find the receipt which you received when you made a payment at the PayPoint. You'll also need to provide the merchant with your name and address in order to receive a refund.

The two important numbers you'll need to provide the merchant are your serial number (9 digits) and transaction number (4 digits). These can all be found on your receipt.

They look like this: SN 025103040 TXN 1234

We have supplied you with an email template which you can use to request a refund. Please make sure you read the email, and add your own correct details before you send the email.

To request a refund please send an email to:

Subject:

PayPoint Problems Refund Request

Message:

To whom it may concern,

I recently made a payment into an account which has since been suspended. As the funds were not credited to the account holder, who will not continue the transaction until funds are released, please issue me with an immediate refund.

The PayPoint barcode is No. 633731100003292465

Amount GBP 35.00

Time & Date of transaction: (enter time and date here)

SN: (enter your 9 digit serial number here)
TXN (enter your 4 digit transaction code here)

My details are as follows:

(Enter your name and address here)

I would be grateful if you could issue me with a prompt refund.

Thank you
===========================================

We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers, and are doing everything within our power to get you an immediate refund.

If you have any problems or we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

Provided you follow our instructions, and email our payment processor with the correct details, you will be issued a refund.
Yours sincerely,

Michael Parr
Finance Department

Now I don't know about you, but I've read that email and I've checked the company behind it and it explains exactly how to get a refund!

I don't know many scams that would divulge that kind of information!

And if anyone has lost their receipt with the numbers on it, make sure you give them the name of the paypoint location and time of your transaction. All paypoint shops have an identifier code so your payment can easily be traced.

I would also advise you to contact paypoint directly and speak to them about getting a refund from Clear Pay on your behalf.

Contact you local police. Insist on reporting the matter - don't walk away without a crime reference number or allow yourself to get fobbed off with 'it's a civil matter' because there appears to be a clear intent to defraud.

Your report should filter up to his local force where they will collate the information and decide how to proceed, at a guess.

Anyone who is scammed by a gypo like this should *always* make a full police report and insist of a crime number. No matter how small the amount, no matter that it takes a couple of hours persistent effort. If you don't, you let people like this get away with it. Even if your report does not appear to do much, rest assured the allegation will need to be investigated and end up sitting on the Police National Computer - just waiting to haunt.

Now that caught my eye. You know that old saying 'If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck'? Well, just a few moments of looking into this so called 'payment processor' CLEAR PAY brings up some questions, and kinda rings some alarm bells.

CLEAR PAY are registered under the name 'JIGSOL CARD SERVICES LIMITED'

They are a relatively new 'concern' setting up that domain name in July of 2008. Interestingly their address is given as: "Trafalgar House NW7 3SA". Now, if you google this phrase the first couple of hits suggest it is rented managed office space. Whilst legitimate businesses may use this kind of service, they also come up many many times in scams. It would strike me odd that a payment processor would be working out of a bedroom with a 'rental' office address for admin.

Finally, a look at the company house records for JIGSOL CARD SERVICES LIMITED show that they were dormant for the first year of operation AND the single company director is also the secretary - how's that for multi-tasking, eh!

On balance, I hear lots of quacking going on here and the smell of 'fish' is overwhelming.

SIDE NOTE
Interesting to note that "Sue Rowling" appears as a 'new' member and posts just to this thread, within a few minutes of me contacting Hendrick. Let's hope Sue posts in lots of other relevant threads, eh ;-)

Mr Oink!

I also happened to be one of the people who received the emails and was fortunate to stumble across this thread.

Regardless of which company is behind this, or who their banker is. You can contact paypoint or the other company mentioned in order to get a refund.

Whether the company operates out of a shoebox, is managed by some spotty faced teen, or is even part of the scam - I can't answer those questions!

But when I contacted paypoint they did inform me that the instructions in the email sent by the flyer company would enable you to get a refund.

As I said in one of my last emails. Contact paypoint or contact the company mentioned and get your refund back.

Scam or no scam - the most important thing is to get your money back!

I'm sorry 'Sue', but your timing seems very odd. Registering for the first time and posting at past midnight on this single post. That rings fishy bells with me and I'd stick my neck out and say I think you are part of this scam.

I agree with one thing you have said, I hope these victims get their money back. But I also hope the piece of scum ripping them off gets his comeuppance in the form of a couple of years incarceration as bubba's bythch (giving cutting his hands off is probably against his human rights, despite being preferable).

Hence the advice still remains REPORT THIS TO THE POLICE!

The good news is the hosting company "Hostgator" have pulled the plug on this scammers website - nice move, but this one is still up: norfolk-express-logistics.co.uk

A few people who received our last email seem confused. The PayPoint problems only affects you if you recently made a payment to us using a barcode.

We previously explained that payments made at the PayPoint had been frozen due to security issues with our payment processor. As funds were not credited to us and remain in the possession of our merchant Clear Pay we provided detailed instructions explaining how to get a refund.

Had this been a scam as some people have suggested, we would not have provided you with the contact details for our merchant and instructions for recovering your money.

All funds credited into our holding account were not withdrawn and remain untouched. Everyone who made a payment is entitled to a refund which we aim to help you get back.

Our intentions were genuine, and we really don't need to scam a few desperate people out of their hard earned money. That's why we are trying to help you get a refund if you made a payment in good faith.

You can file a request for a refund via email or post.

Just reported everything to the police, i now have an incident number and have been told to print out all correspondence and head down to the station to make a full report. I strongly suggest that everyone else whom sent them personal details and or money to do the same.

edit:
Also, in addition to phoning the police i've phoned my bank (as suggested by the police) to make them aware of the situation should there be any suspicious looking activity on my account,. And i've contacted action fraud (google it, cause im not allowed to post links) and given them a rundown of the situation. I suggestion again that anyone involved in this should do the same, for my main concern now is not so much the money, but rather the possibility of identity theft.

Oh look, they seem to be moving around. Now they spring up in the same building as Skipton Social Services, LOL.
