I broke my HTC Desire
So yeah, my obscenely expensive and uninsured phone is broken. I squashed the screen and although the glass didn't break the LED/touchscreen isn't working, the phone seems to power up fine but all of the pixels are black.
What is going to be the best/cheapest thing to do here? Should I contact Orange or go into a shop? Or should I contact HTC and see if they can fix it? Or should I go to someone else? I accept that it was my fault and realise this probably going to be expensive.
So, so gutted.

Unfortunately I don't have household insurance either!
I'd really rather not attempt anything like this myself, especially as it'd still cost me 50 quid and I'd probably botch it, but cheers anyway.
I guess my questions really are...
a) would Orange take it for repair if I went into the shop?
and b) if the answer to a) is yes, how much is it likely to cost and will it be any cheaper/more expensive than sending it to HTC?0 -
Hi there
A) ProbablyAlmost certainly as all they will do is send it to HTC and then add on their "cut".

i guess orange will just pass it on to htc for repairs and add their overhead charges on top.
if you dont want to do repairs then contact htc directly.
if you are interested in self repairs then apart from the links given by others, see the following links as well...

The only other thing I can think of would be to speak to a local phone or computer shop (not a chain, but a "proper" specialist) and see if they would be willing to do the repair for you. It's likely to be cheaper than HTC, but still more expensive than getting the parts from eBay and following the instructions. In the beginning, the universe was created.
