UK passports have been machine readable ( have all that >>>>>> stuff) under the picture page for at least ten years. Passports are only valid for a max. of ten years, so yours must be OK. Have a look and see.

Oh ok, yeah my last two passports have had >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> etc etc. I think I was getting confused with biometrics - don't you need those for the US now?
Okies so the correct passports & Esta's - anything else I need?

I'm assuming you qualify to travel under the Visa Waiver Programme so won't need to actually obtain a visa for your trip?
Requirements for travelling on the VWP
•You can travel for business, pleasure or transit only, and
•stay in the US for less than 90 days, and
•hold a confirmed return or onward ticket (or e-ticket receipt), and
•you must obtain travel authorisation by completing the online ESTA form. We suggest you apply at least 72 hours before travel
This page is quite useful re. documentation etc - not specific to those flying with BA:

Edit: And no, you don't need a biometric passport (or e-passport) for travel to the US as long as your current passport was issued prior to 26 October 2006 (and is still valid, obviously!).0 -
We're only going on holiday for a week so yes we can travel under the VWP. Thanks
