School exercise books for a school in Malawi

Have you checked the prices of notebooks in Malawi? You may find prices are cheap and decide to raise money rather than carrying a heavy parcel of blank paper. You can't count on the airline allowing overweight baggage without charge.

I hope you realise how much it will cost to transport such items to africa and unless you accompany them the boxes may not arrive intact.

Friend of mine a schoolteacher collected loads of books, exercise books, pens, pencils etc and sent them at great cost to a school in the Gambia - unfortunately the boxes had been opened and a lot of the stuff was missing when it finally got to the school.

Thanks to the kindness of members of these forums, we now have all the exercise books & stationary that we need. We will be transporting these items as part of our luggage allowance on the plane. So there won't be any additional costs. The charity we are working with highlighted the need for the exercise books, as they are hard to get hold of in Malawi.
