You have viruses/malware almost certainly, the issue is not IE8. What did you scan with for spyware/malware?If my post helped you in anyway, please hit the "Thanks" button! Please note any advice I give is followed at your own risk!0

You do not have to remove IE necessarily, if you revert to IE 7 it will just try to auto update often, unless you do some stuff to turn that off.
Better may be to use a different search engine and leave IE to fester.
Many find Mozilla Fire Fox very easy to use, you can find it here:

It will import all your settings and preferred pages.Marry a Foreigner, its so much cheaper!0 -
Its also highly inadvisable to use anything other than the latest browser version from a security perspective.... otherwise you'll leave your PC open to viruses etc that'll direct the kids to sex sites yadda yadda yadda.0

This, all though fixes problems with internet explorer will not fix your core problem. If you do not remove the viruses/spyware that are there you risk losing anything that is on the PC, including financial information, bank accounts hijacked, identity theft. If my post helped you in anyway, please hit the "Thanks" button! Download, install, update and run a Quick Scan with Malwarebytes' AntiMalware. When complete, choose 'Remove Selected' if there is anything to remove and Reboot your computer.
After restart, open the program again and go to 'Logs'. Double click on the log produced for today and post the contents here.
Next
Download and install and run Hitman Pro 3.5.
Follow through with the program to remove any malware.
Next, download, install and run the HijackThis Version 2.0.3 installer and use the Quick Start guide to enable you to produce a log for posting here too.0 -
