Lost mobile - tmobile

Dear all,
Can anyone please give me good advise.

I have lost my mobile nokia 5800, I think it fell out of my bag on the way to work.

I have reported it to tmobile, who have blocked the phone.

I have a 18 month contract with them, which started last nov 2009.

they said they will send out a new sim card but no new phone as i dont have insurance with them.

so I have another 12 months on a contract of which i can't use with out a phone and have to carry on paying them every month for the privilage!! not fair really.... please help :)

Thanks

The understanding I have of contracts for mobiles is the phone is seperate to the actual minutes and texts etc so the contract carries on regardless of if you have the phone or not....

Have you asked about emergency insurance.... Orange does this a think it is about £60 and they will send you a new phone out dont know it tmobile do or not....

Only other option is a cheap phone and put ya contract sim in it....
  • You could check and see if your household insurance covers the loss. If not, then your only real option is to buy a PAYG phone and put the replacement SIM in that.

Sorry, but it's entirely fair. You entered into a contract with T-Mobile. If they supplied the phone at the start of the contract, all or part of the cost of the phone you lost is factored into the monthy payment over the 18 months.

The easy solution is to buy the cheapest unlocked or T-Mobile PAYG phone and use the replacement SIM in that until your contract is fulfilled. I've seen basic phones as cheap as a fiver.

The advice given is correct. Losing or breaking the phone does not terminate the contract.
If it did, everyone would be 'losing' their new iPhone 4's on a regular basis...

This is great advice OP. it only works if you have contents cover on your home insurance though. ;)
  • Go to carphonewarehouse. You can buy a phone from them for £6. Although you need to buy a sim with £10 top on it (so £16 total) but sell that on ebay for a fiver.

Bargain phone for about a £10.

    EDITED:

Actually, go via quidco for £7.50 and then to mobile.co.uk/e2save/onestopphoneshop and they do a phone for 99p + £10 top up.
