mmmm.........Delrosa rosehip syrup.........used to love the smell and taste of that as a child.......when my youngest sister was born and she was given it, I was 11 and used to have a crafty swig from the bottle every now and again :rotfl:

Rosehip wine is one of my favourites....I've got 2 kilos of the things in the freezer awaiting the brewing bucket.

The highlight of my day has been putting my jimjams on.

i should think if you put the hips in a bowl of water for 1/2 hr or so, any bugs will emerge.

  • I may go back and get a few crabapples and rosehips tomorrow. The blackberries weren't quite ready yet, although there were some we managed to eat along the way...

I soak any fruit I pick, overnight in salted water - it's quite grusome what comes floating to the top.....Blughh!

You do find quite a few earwigs trapped in the bigger rosehips too...so it's worth cutting them in half.

    It's worth the effort though....honest.
