Hi
Today is a NSD day number 10 I have reached my target.:j
Had to take a few things back to the shops today so i have actually made £4 today and spent none. Could I please increase my taget to 13.
Yesterday was a big spend day had to buy my OH his birthday present as he is 40 in a few weeks.#Sealed pot #085.

A couple of things I have noticed n would like confirmation on... Does a NSD count for spending not a single penny, from ur purse or bank account. as I may have miss read some posts but people are buying grocery shopping an still countin an NSD.. Do i need to start with a budget and if i spend out of the budget then that doesnt count as an NSD?
For me personally a spend is anything I have to pay for (except for garden or get fit related expenses, and social life - these tend to happen very few and far between, but are almost totally unpredictable)
I have budgets for everything - including 'anything else' which covers clothes, shoes, books, CDs, DVDs, newspapers, pots & pans etc. - but I find that by declaring them all as spends for this challenge it makes me think twice as to whether or not I actually need/will make use of/can justify the expense of something, even if my budget has enough left to cover it.
However, while I'm running down my freezers I think I'm going to have to carry on 'putting money to one side' like I have this week - so a set amount of cash was put into a purse yesterday (when I had an unplanned spend) to cover specific items I'll need this week but don't have fridge/freezer space for (or would have gone off before I needed/finished using had I bought them yesterday). As long as my spends on a day are only from that purse and only for one of those specified items, then I shall class the day as an NSD.Cheryl0 -
My Dad also gave me two large carrier bags of windfall Bramleys that I'll have to deal with tomorrow. Problem being storing it once I've stewed it, as I've no freezer space !!! Does anyone know if I can safely jar it up like I do jams & pickles? Never tried it before, but it dawned on me that pre-made apple sauce comes in jars......
Didn't spot this yesterday, Cheryl, you can definitely bottle apples, my mum used to do it. I had a quick look around to see if I could find how to do it and found this, might be some use to you.

Im a cold turkey kind of person though, if I spent a little even in asda, I would think, aww well i've spent now, I might as well carry on..
Keep up the good work all!
Re the challenge - echoing Cheryl's comment below, we make our own rules, so basically you decide what area(s) you want to target and make your rules around them.
In my case, I would think nothing of popping into the supermarket on the way home from work because I "needed something for tea" (despite having a full freezer and cupboards stocked to bursting point:o:o:o.) Needless to say, that ended up with me spending a minimum of £20 each time... Now I'm much more organised, supermarket twice a week maximum (normally just once) as I plan ahead and the NSD challenge helped me to do that. I also group spends together, so will pay the paper bill, for example, on a shopping day. You may find to start with that your actual expenditure doesn't reduce but it will in time as you get more organised and start thinking ahead.
Sorry, that was a very long-winded way of saying think about where you want to cut down and work this challenge around it. Others will probably come along later and give you their views on the challenge - as I say we all work differently.
Any more questions just ask away, someone will be around to answer you and you'll get lots of different opinions and views on here.
Good luck

NSD #11 for me today
Did buy the '10 for £2' Mvller Corners this morning (offer ended today), but I've had the money for those put to one side since Wednesday while I made fridge space/waited for delivery of the latest bbe dates possible
Have spent several hours this weekend 'down sizing' my wardrobe and drawers (and boxes, and suitcases), but still have more to do. I now have a large-ish pile of clothes to bag up for a local charity shop, which consists of all my size 16's, most of my size 14's (held on to sweatshirts for layering up on cooler days/evening, plus a few favourite T-shirts that don't look like potato sacks on me yet), and several items in a size 12. The spaces these took up in my wardrobe and drawers are now filling up nicely with the smaller 12's and size 10's that I bought when I lost weight in 2003 (and before I let it start creeping back on) :T
Just thankful I've always tended to buy 'classic' items so none of it dates, and that I refused to part with the smaller sizes (insisting I'd get back into them one day) - no way I could have afforded to buy a whole new wardrobe these days
Not sure whether the fact I'm still a stone heavier than when I was last in a size 10 (the outdoor running must be toning me considerably better than the treadmill running I did last time ever did) is a good or bad thing though...... I plan to try and lose another couple of pounds then hold steady for the rest of the year, with the plan then being to possibly lose another half stone in 2011 - but half a stone is currently equating to a dress size (I've lost about 19lbs since last November, when I was a 14 or 16 depending on make/fit), so I may have to have a major shop for clothes by next Easter !!!!Cheryl0
