Is it worth keeping a spare Sky+ box?

HI
When we moved into the house a few months ago, the people leaving left their sky+ box. This was really useful as the aerial in the roof was not working, so saved us getting it fixed as we watched freesat!!
We have now decided to get Sky HD and so the box will no longer be in use. Is there any use we could put it to, such as being able to use it with another TV by sending the signal??
Not very knowledgable about these things...
Thanks
Leah

You are not watching Freesat, you're watching Freesat from Sky-similar, but not the same.
If you have a quad LNB you will still have two feeds free out of the 4, so you could run additional cabling to another room and use the box in there. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi Macman,
Not even sure what a quad LNB is? Is it on the dish? We are getting Sky HD if that helps work out if we will have whatever it is!! Would be able to watch different channels to the main tv if we did this??
Thanks0 -

It's the thing on the end of the arm on the dish. A quad LNB will have four connectors, 2 of which will be used for the Sky HD box. If you don't already have a quad LNB it's likely that one will be fitted.Would be able to watch different channels to the main tv if we did this??

Yes but only the freesat from sky channels. If you decided to go with multiroom for an extra £10pm you would get all the channels that you subscribe to on your main box plus the recording features.0 -
Thanks very much! I will have a look into this when it is all set up.:beer:0
